Not exactly moved. If he comes over, great. If not....well, either Jewell doesn't get dropped for doing nothing wrong, or we continue developing Blizzard nicely.

He seems like a complete ponce of a bloke though.

cool. He will be our solution in our opening department in both sides.

Bullshit, Blizzard stays in there.

He's the only reason I would go watch the Vics play.

Re: Rogers off to the Vics

Ahh well, another WA player moving from here to go to another state so he can play for Australia. We are used to it. The stupid ranga just had a sad because he wasn't good enough for our OD team and couldn't get a game. He will go to a new state and hardly play for them anyways, Hayden's retiring soon, so he will be with the Australian Test team.

Re: Rogers off to the Vics

stuttering throughout his interview. sense a smell of guilt? honestly people like him have shafted the warriors around for quite some time. remember katich antics after recovering from an illness and the warriors kept him then one day katich said forget it im heading east?

nah he just doesnt speak well, gets very nervous in front of the cameras

like i said in the other thread, some people at the waca need to look deeper into the reasons why people are jumping ship

i think brad hardie was spot on when he said the tail is wagging the dog

also the reasons behind the guys leaving are hardly convincing

Re: Rogers off to the Vics

Dissappointing loss, but I won't be having any sleepless nights. Considering he was asking us to compromise our one day side by gifting him a spot he's never justified filling on form, I think Moody and the admin have done the right thing in letting him go.

It's not as if we're struggling for batting depth either. Heron and Davis have both done reasonably well given their limited opportunities, whilst opening with Marsh allows us to bring in someone like Doropolous or Wes Robinson at six.

Re: Rogers off to the Vics

You're an idiot. So he wants to increase his chances of playing for Australia. Good on him i say. Ridiculous that he wasn't playing ODD cricket. Don't blame him for moving at all.

How is it rediculous that he wasnt playing ODI's?

have a look at our batting line up we had and tell me where you would fit him in.

Marsh
Ronchi
Pommers
Voges
Langer

I have actually met the bloke, I came to this conclusion a long time ago, not just this week mate!!

Quiney- runner up POTY last season
Rogers- wants a run in both, so he does. very good opener
Hodge- played for Australia
Hussey- going to play for Australia
White- Captain
McDonald- very good A/R, possibly out for Blizzard
Taibu- Keeper
no chance, except MAYBE Maca.

Roger plays test cricket for Australia, so wouldn't you think tha if he is of international standard, they would give him a free ticket into the WA one day side??
if WA were bright enough to see that their star batsman would leave them in the future, they would put him in the one day side regardless of his statistics. considering he isn't too shabby in OD format anyway.

Re: Rogers off to the Vics

It is fair enough to say give him a an automatic spot in the One Dayers, if you were playing county cricket.

However, this is the best domestic comp in the world, if you arent good enough, then you're not good enough.

Brad Hogg couldn't get a spot in our 4 day side and he was a star for the Aussie 1 day team. Same deal.

Re: Rogers off to the Vics

Too right, He played a game against my school. hasn't lost much pace (I can tell you!) good bloke

I'm not criticizing Rogers move, but why would someone (especially of his talent) want to pack up and move across the whole of Australia to play cricket, especially when he has already played test cricket for Australia, and also considering everything WA has done for him. like coaching.. mentoring.. etc?

And also, why wasn't we playing ODI for Australia in the first place?

and on a different note, can anyone tell me about the 20/20 cricket in India, and about how channel 10 go the rights over channel 9, and who's commentating etc? cheers lads

The story is that Ch. 9 and Ch. 10 submitted bids to the IPL to broadcast the matches. Ch. 10 substantially outbid Ch. 9 and Ch. 9 refused to match Ch. 10's bid. As far as I know, Ch. 10 are taking the international feed, so they're taking the international commentators, at least for the first season.

i think quiney might be missing out on early season action for the vics...

St Kilda and Victoria opener Rob Quiney could miss part of the 2008-2009 pre-season after undergoing surgery on his hip to remove bone fragments. (herald sun)

i know it says pre-season but with an interupted pre-season it may affect him early on next seaosn

Why couldn't Brad Hogg get a game in the Pura Cup with WA, when he plays test cricket for Australia?

So that means, when i'm sitting at home, watching the cricket on channel 10, the commentators will most likely be Indian, and therefore presumably bias?

2-3 years back we left hogg out so that we could give casson more game time

hogg had just been dropped form the test team at the time and it didnt look remotely possible that he would get back there while casson was showing a lot of promise and we didnt want to lose him to NSW

he left anyway

A few years ago they were playing Casson ahead of Hogg in the Pura cup, Hogga made a bit of a fuss about it (rightly so) and said he would move if they didnt play him. So they shafted Casson and he ended up leaving to NSW.

and that is rightly so.

if Hogg was playing International cricket for Australia in the first place let alone ODI, wouldn't he be given an automatic selection in the Pura Cup side for WA?
it just sounds like common sense to me

W.A cricket is not known for there common sense, they once told David Hussey he needed to score some hundreds like Mike had been...only trouble was that it was David scoring the hundreds. So stupid.

Sucked in Rogers not getting a CA contract! Sucked in to his new state too because they now have to pay for him.

Interesting that he decided to move interstate and then is dropped, even with 5 players retiring, including a bunch of WA ones. I wonder if this new lack of WA players is somewhat behind the reason they are now looking at some of the younger WA players? I also wonder if Rogers was dropped in order to keep some state balance? They wouldn't do that, would they?

no, he was dropped becuase he didnt get enough points or something

the selectors have a ranking system for both pura cup and od matches

rogers just missed out becuase he wasnt getting any points for od

thats why he left, he must have known that he was going to lose his contract

Will be good to see Marsh and Davis opening for WA next season, wont be long until both over take Rogers for the next test spot.

WA really have a problem in holding onto quality players:
MacGill
D.Hussey
Casson
Rogers
Katich

Average effort.

Casson is shit. He's just a prime example of being smart and moving to the state that guarentees at least some sort of International Recognition.

I rmember the day he left the Warriors thinking, if he ever get's picked for Australia, that is as close to any evidence you will get to understanding that Australian Cricket is corrupt.

____ off ACB, hope we lose to the Windies, one step back two forward IMO.
