at least it wont be a farsical result when jade rawlings was caretaker coach for richmond coaching against his older brother brady

it was a farsical draw! the rawlings parents would have had a laugh or a cry at the result :p

THIS GUY!

You're right. First he accused Essendon of poaching McCartney, then ended up with egg on his face when he was told that it was McCartney who approached Essendon.

Yeh, pretty much, but you stated that McCartney did what Scott did i.e leaving an assistant position to become senior coach, when as you'd know McCartney left an assistant position for another assistant position.

Can only be a good thing IMO. Hopefully we follow Collingwood's lead next season and play blokes on form, rather than reputation next season. Would've been good to see the likes of Menzel, Duncan and T.Hunt get rewarded for their performances in the seniors this year, instead of getting kicked out of the side as soon as a better credentialled player regained fitness.

I agree with all of that. What would have been the point of Hinkley or Sanderson? You'd think they'd be pretty firmly set into Bomba's way.

You'd think with a fresh approach and new coaching panel though, the decision to offer Wojo and Milburn contracts for 2011 is something that the club should've held off on.

What is with this? They both had good seasons, Wojo late in the season played some of the best games I've seen him play.

Why must we tap them on the shoulder just because they reach a certain age? Is this really the way the comp is going, players still playing good footy have to go for no other reason?

Very surprising selection, considering the heavyweights they have in their own backyard (Sanderson and Hinkley), despite Hinkley at the GC.

Will be interesting to see what C. Scott does next season. Does he stick with the elder statesmen that have done the job in the past or does he shake things up and play/develop the youth at Geelong? What about the game plan? Bomber had stated many times the players had major input and basically coached themselves, so what does this mean now?

It looks like a bit of an inspired choice for mine.

One of Hinkley and Sanderson looked to be almost certainties after Hinkley's dealings with the club in the past and the regard in which he was held by the board. Sanderson was obviously well received by the players, and it would've been no surprise to see one of these two 'home grown' options get the gig.

Scott gives Geelong a bit of a refresh. No doubt he has a slightly different take on the Geelong list to Sanderson and perhaps Hinkley, and perhaps this change of direction is what got him over the line.

Wojo had a good season and is one of the few players we have capable of breaking the lines with speed but the Milburn decision is one that we probably should have waited on.

Hopefully Scott bases his selections on form rather than name and experience and isn't afraid to drop the older players when need be.

They are both on the decline, and the decision to keep or push them should've been made by the new coach, because ultimately he should be making the calls on the direction of the list.
