Watching Simpson turn under performing spuds into world beaters, makes me hope the club think very carefully before getting rid of him.

Yarran would have a field day in the WCE line up.

If it hasn't been reported by the HS cronies it hasn't happened behind closed doors :drunk:
What would be the motivation to single out players are tell them mid season they are expendable? I don't believe that at all. Not putting a contract on the table isn't the same.

Do you see any connection between their form and the fact that they have both been told they are expendable? Yeah let's bleed for the club that has put us on Gumtree before the season is even half done.

Conjecture much?

Then you have t loo at the wa a player reacts to being criticised- ie perform please shifts to perform or else...

either way it is too late and the wrong type to build a Club around- I say this with no joy trust me- because Yarran has always been my favourite player- I had high hopes for him and what he could do for Carlton - probably our only genuine match winner - a player genuinely good enough to lift everyone around him through brilliance.

That's too hard a task for the Jabber................he's already told me that :)

Players may not want for their form to be affected but as we all know, we function best in a supportive workplace.

Boekhorst may though be the one that has the biggest hurdle to overcome...............given how unworthy a selection he was according to those with the biggest voices.

The biggest voices are generally the least switched on voices so they should be ignored at all costs.

Maybe a little self drive to stick it up a few people then? They get to live the dream at the end of the day.

But sometimes they can be in the highest of places.

I know there's no quick off-field quick fix at the CFC but someone, somehow has to get hold of all the noises and shut some of them down.

We have to work as one and eliminate factions at the board level which spills down and creates factions all the way down the line. It's ugly.

Doro, I agree with you to a point but not all of us are Selwoods or Hodges that are self-driven and don't get affected by surrounds/workplace enviro.

Right now nothing more sings true than Hawthorn being, "We're a happy team at Hawthorn" They've created that same culture.
What have we got? "We're Carlton. **** the rest" :) That's so sad.

What is publicly known about Yarran's background indicates to me it is an extraordinary achievement for him to have come as far as he has, which is why I dislike the bagging off his character so much. It's hard to put yourself in the shoes of others, pretty much impossible for a middle class white fella to try on his.

All I hope now is that we get a fair trade for him to go somewhere he is happy and plays some of the sublime football he is capable of. And lives happily ever after as well.

we gotta be ready for our discards to play great footy for other teams - gonna happen

Yeah I agree, we are a reflection of our past decision making. The old way of doing things at Carlton was very ingrained and we failed to chase improvement in every department. Boekhorst received extra attention because of the circumstance regarding his drafting, but as far as I can tell every Carlton supporter wants him to succeed. It's the outsiders who are chasing the laughs if he doesn't. We are just going to have to get used to the environment as is, because its likely the Ls will outnumber the Ws for a few years yet. Hopefully the club can up the ante in maximising potential with developing its future draftees.

I only singled Jamo out because he's been doing it for a while, not just this season. Sometimes its just personality, but Yarran doesn't get that excuse, so neither should Jamo. And one is a leader apparently? (i may be wrong).

No we aren't devoid of guys that care... most of the young guys do, but even that will run out if someone doesn't start motivating them. At the moment they are just happy to be there.
No sure if you're taking the piss but I'll bite.
Yarran doesn't have the excuse because he's selfish soft**** who plays as if he doesn't give a damn, Jamo on the other hand is coming to the end of a career where he's put it all on the line for our club, often playing through serious injuries to his own long term detriment.
See the difference now?

I would beg to differ. There is a minority of Carlton supporters who have a vested interest in Boekhorst failing. Some of them would have been gnashing their teeth as he put together the game he did against the Hawks on Friday night. Certain supporters would have been hoping he was subbed out on Friday night with donuts for possessions.

Ok, differ you may. Make that majority then. I hope he doesn't join the fragile confidence club, and just sets about making a career for himself though.

Way out of line. Love you to say it to his face. Social media sure brings out the hero in some folk.

Did you wonder why he was behaving like this?
Couldn't really think of a reason why he was so pissed off and trying to fight randoms. Clearly got shit going on his life and, as posters have mentioned he is only human and has done very, very well to get where he is today considering his background. But I really don't see it as an excuse to be behaving like that.

Just looked like another drunk and angry mid 20s guy roaming the streets of Melbourne looking for trouble.
