I visit relatives in Karrakatta and where the KK attack was, is sandy and back around the maintenance area. Where Jane is, is a lovely lawned Rose Garden and Ciara is in beautiful lawned area as well.

I just flew over on Google Earth, the perimeter seems to go on forever it's massive.

I visit Jane often as she's really close to others I go to see. Her memorial changes all the time. The birds love to pull flowers out, artificial or fresh, they don't care whose they are!

Ciara's underwear.

The underwear, later DNA-linked to Ms Glennon and bearing her handwritten initials on the tag, was suspected to have been a spare pair inside the lawyer’s missing work bag, which she had with her the night she vanished.

I recall back during the trial, another pair of undies was mentioned, but Christian reported they were handed in in 2003....Maybe the same pair, just wrong dates initially??

I was about to go and search for what I faintly recalled was an earlier reference to undies handed in.
Thanks for digging this up.
No wonder I remembered it, as I posted your above article in the Claremont Murders Media thread 8 Feb 2020, and in a post that discussed it on that same day in the CSK Trial thread #2 at post #536
Was anyone in CSK court this week on Thursday and can assist make sense of the above revelation by Bret Christian today?
Possibly all Ciara's underwear (not from the night she was murdered) was sent off for testing in 2004.
Maybe to look for any non Ciara DNA on them.
Where this specific handed in 2003 underwear came from, and why it was reportedly only handed into WAPOL in 2003, is a mystery that will probably forever remain a mystery (for privacy reasons).

and post #538
Maybe at the time it was just an attempt to see who the owner of the undies might have been having relationships with, that was not known to WAPOL at that point in time. To identify other possible POI.

There was some discussion of this at CSK Trial thread #2.

I thought Greycrow's post #540 is worthy of further consideration
'Bradley Hollingsworth, a state prosecutor, objected to the inclusion of the underpants evidence. “It is highly irrelevant,” he said. No information was given about how the underpants came into police possession.'
Code for : It doesnt fit our narrative

Was everyone assuming that BRE put those underpants there in 2000 or 2003?

Kingswood71 's post #542 summed it up nicely
Well it is highly irrelevant. No one knows who handed them in, who handled them, if they wore gloves, if they were male. No one knows when the underpants were worn. No ones knows who the DNA belongs to. No one knows how old it is. No one knows if its even male, just the possibility of been male. No one has suggested that its a semen stain. No one has mentioned who tested it.
Interesting that Yovich has mentioned that the defense would challenge the chain of custody of other exhibits.....They may continue it when the present their defense but did Hall allow it??? Cant see if he did or didnt :(

Then there were a whole lot of other posts discussing this, related to DNA cross-contamination and a question from JezzaPerth about whether this item was accidentally not redacted from an exhibits list at post #543
It may have been a line item in some inventory document that wasn't redacted? I don't think Yovich can tender documents at this stage? Of if he can I can't remember seeing him do it.

Might BRE have taken and left the undies at Ciara's Karrakatta cemetery burial site, in order to try and cast some doubt on who might have placed them there, and who her killed was? Risking that he be caught in the process?

For all we know, BRE might have deliberately attempted to put another male's DNA on those undies, and forensic testing might have confirmed that the male DNA on them was not BRE's.

Maybe those undies would have been retested in later years when DNA testing was more advanced. That even if BRE's DNA was on them, that there might still have been some Prosecution reluctance to use them as evidence for his trial, just in case they were planted there by someone (with or without any male DNA on them), and they left open, too wide an avenue for any future BRE trial verdict appeal.

👏👏👏👏👏
Well said LAM and timely as I'm going through a terrible battle at the moment for justice for my husband who died suddenly in December 2020. Thank you for sharing this, it means a lot to me, bless ya.

I can only imagine how hard it must be for you, sending love and white light your way. x

We were told a repeat visitor put her undies there in 2000. They might not have gone to the lab until 2003 Who knows who handled them until then?

Without BREs DNA on them, I wouldn't want them in my prosecution case either and open the door to risk of sending it sideways.

Have we got this from a named WAPOL source in an official capacity on the case?
Or is this still media speculation about the repeat visitor.

Do WAPOL have video of the exact same person actually putting them there?
Like video of them actually placing them down at the site?

We can only know for certain the history of evidence if it's been tested in court. WApol aren't going to tell us about anything through the investigation that might throw a light on another fail.

The mind boggles at what they might be hiding.

Absolutely shameless self-promotion from Bret Christian today in the weekly 'Post' newspaper, where he writes a love letter to himself and spruiks that his new release book is for sale outside Barchetta in Cottesloe tomorrow (Saturday) where he (and not BRE) will be personally signing copies from 10am to midday.

Not sure how he will sign the kindle versions.
Maybe BYO engraving tool.

This post is too advertorial for the Media thread.
Not controversial enough for the Bunker.
My Verdict of what I've read in this book so far, (bits from different sections) is that it's an invaluable resource for those still following the case.
(Hence this post is in the Verdict thread)

The amount of times he mentions the Post in the book is ridiculous to be honest. I saw he mentioned another publication (once, so far) but follows that up with a quote from the Post.

Good on you for coming forward !! Hopefully others will follow now you have made this public xx

so if you were to report an indecent exposure down that embankment do you just call crime stoppers or is there another preferred way?

JWS2019 has posted the link for this in the media thread, much appreciated and I've found it really interesting so thought I should give it a plug in here as well. Andrew Rule might be a bit more across this case than we might have thought given he's from Melbourne.

I hope he does a series because he has some of the same questions we have.

The Murdoch media bogan State newspapers are running a paywalled online story today, attempting to parallel Ivan Milat with BRE.
Hopefully someone will be able to get access to them or they will be in the paper versions today or tomorrow's Sunday paper versions.

I speculate that the Milat link they report, is that BRE has gone to jail with the full extent of his victims unknown, and him refusing to divulge what else he has done, and his denials of some of his crimes.

I suspect you're right since they've already changed the headline to this ...

Why the Claremont killer will take his secrets to grave just like backpacker murderer Ivan Milat

thanks Kurve! And glad you liked the share. I found interesting as well.. did get annoyed once more at perhaps lack of care on investigating multiple, similar and odd rapes or attempts in Huntingdale...

No longer have access unfortunately
... agree and did touch slightly in the podcast from Andrew Rule - that they are a little hesitant to release footage with hope he will share something in future. Unfortunately as well known Ivan didn’t have have empathy even in his last weeks of life to share anything for the families..

It shits me that again, it's only on Foxtel. I'll never get to see it

Maybe Foxtel will show it for free, given how much suffrage many WA ppl are facing this week from loss of income due to COVID-19 lockdown for at least 5 days.
