Collingwood fans take heart for the tough games to come - you've got Travis Cloke out there in the trenches.

The code of conduct is all about respect for your fellow teammates. No one has any resepct for King. However I still wish Trav kept his mouth shut and just smashed him round 17.

Why would you protect someone who punched you in the face? Especially when the AFL now comes down with penalties for doing it.

You people boggle me

For the same reason Didak said he was asleep.

Male Collingwood supporters who have played competitive football will be feeling ashamed right now. If taking pot shots at Jake King's football ability is your way of hiding your embarrassment, I understand.

I'm proud of Joe Murdoch for refusing Collingwood's bribery. You can move to Lexus, you can hold your cheer squad to ransom, but you remain human swill.

That is the point of the code, it's not about respect for King its about respect for your self. If Cloke was half a man he would wait until RD17 and teach King a lesson.

Collingwood should get this more than most, a monkey never forgets :D

man, there is no code between players if a person gets a cheap shot behind play. Its only when its in the play that you dont snitch.

If Cloke punched King behind the play then he would deserve to go.

Travis Cloke is no angel, the Clokes in general are fkwits but if someone punches you behind play then the players code goes out the window.

Im still bewildered by the fact that Travis actually felt a punch anyway...you can't physically throw a punch with any force at all when you're lying on your back with two blokes lying on top of you especially when one of those guys is 20kg heavier than you.

The fact that Travis Cloke 'lagged' King in twice says more about his character than Jake King's!

There's something about the Clokes that makes people want to physically assault them. Certainly plenty of history there.

ashamed? yeah right. i've played plenty of footy and proven thugs like king deserve their right whack. in my playing days i was more than happy to see players with a proven record of violence on the field rubbed out when they deserved it. king has a history of whacking blokes and got what he deserved after his effort in last fri's game. good on cloke for telling the truth. the evidence proves king is a dirty player - he and richmond should clean up his act rather than start sooking when he gets rubbed out

Can see it now.
Rnd 17 vs Coll
King comes in for his only game.

Late withdrawl-----Travis Cloke.[Burst pimple]

And we win by 15 plus goals. That's what the game is about, winning on the score board, playing finals something alien to the Richmond football club. It is sad to see a once successful club in such terminal decline.

Thug? I doubt you know the meaning of the word.

Proof of the deleterious effect that political correctness has had on the fabric of Australian society.

I'm compelled to ask the question, is there a players code, anymore?

Facts are that most players go through elite junior squads nowadays, and don't cut their teeth playing seniors country or suburban footy with mature age men who teach them (at an early age) about respect, keeping your mouth shut if someone wrongs you, and about how to even the ledger.

That last point is the most important. How often do you actually have an opportunity to even the ledger in a televised, highly scrutinised competition like the AFL. The only avenue left to Cloke would be to nail King in a perfectly executed bump, and after the circus that the AFL introduced last year, if King slightly lowered his body (and Cloke being the taller guy) he'd likely hit him high (as seen in the Buddy/Cousins incident) and then Cloke would have 3-4 weeks added as a suspension AS WELL AS the original sniper hit behind play.

So that takes me to my next point. The so called "players code". Campbell Brown does actually go out of his way to get Judd off at the tribunal by lying that there was no contact to his eye (completely contradicted by the cameras), and later mentions that it was a fib. The world of Bigfooty was in uproar seemingly that Brown is a liar and a cheat. The victim was the scapegoat.

Recent examples of players ignoring the code can be seen with the evidence that Essendon presented during the Line In The Sand game, the evidence Richmond presented in the Libba/Knights incident, and many other incidents that you have noted during this thread for lesser incidents.

So in my opinion, there is scarcely a players code in practice anymore, and furthermore, it seems that it is barely supported by the majority of you anyway? Personally I think thats a sad indictment on the game, as I don't believe the game has to be a representation of society. In fact, most of us were attracted to the game in the early days due to the gladiatorial nature of the sport...but everyone is entitled to their opinions I guess.

Hi guys

I was wondering if someone could help me. I'm trying to get a hold of this players code of conduct. So far I've tried the AFL webiste, ALFPA website, various rules of the game sites, but to no avail, I can't seem to find any trace of this. Could someone please steer me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance, # 28
