Hope we use the old one.

If it was better than the old one,I would be in agreeance but it aint.

The backing instruments are the same bar the midi drumkit beat added over the top and the noise reduction but the new vocallists don’t sing with any emotion or passion,like they are taking the piss and I’m not talking about KB’s and Richo’s parts which are so far down the mix,you can’t hear them any way.

Well son it was actually meant to be shin, but these wonderful fable singers recorded the song you know and love Today a long time ago, and they mistakenly sang the word skin!, so that’s what it became son! A little quirky bit of history of our great club!

I’m sure most people would have it in their heads that changing ‘skin’ to ‘shin’ would be pretty simple without the need to re-record everything.

If the club asked beforehand if we’d like the song re-recorded (new singers etc.) to fix the lyrics, then all this drama would’ve been avoided.

There’s obviously a difference cause why are other clubs choosing to stick with the old version?

“Change skin to shin” = Club says no to real instruments, re-records whole song on a MIDI keyboard with theatrical Disney singers using operatic vibrato.

Yeah that’s the same!

Don’t try to make us supporters sound like hypocrites - NOBODY asked for this cheaply recorded abomination we might have to listen to for the next 50 years.

You do realise this version will be played for 50 years, right?

They’ve cut costs and hired 1 person in a home studio to record the music on his keyboard, then got a singer to overdub a theatrical voice. Sounds like just 1 singer doing overdubs too, and his harmonies end at all different times. Amateur hour.

Cheapest possible version, replacing a genuine horn section and a professional group of singers.

Not what anybody asked for!

We need to pay attention to detail with this song, it’s bloody important. That’s why it’s such a disgrace how much lack of care they’ve shown in re-recording it.

I was thinking something more like this:

After one round, you might be right.

However, this song will be played by supporters a million times for decades.

The weak MIDI keyboard presets for drums, bass, and horns, combined with the theatrical vibrato low vocals will, over time, become increasingly obvious.

MIDI samples are fake sounding and lack passion, feel, etc.

Have you heard a real horn section? It’s the richest sound in music.

Real horns vs MIDI samples is like the difference between puffing your chest out or breaking out into a choreographed dance routine.

Listen to the bass. It’s not played by real human fingers, it’s a button on a keyboard.

Upon one listen, you might not feel the difference, but I promise you - over time you’ll find yourself feeling like it’s just missing something... because it is.

I don’t care about the concept of old vs new. This is not a generic “stop changing the game” emotion.

Its not a remix, its a poor quality re-recording, so no its not that different and over the stadium sound system a lot won't even notice it.

Does it annoy me? Yes it does, I wish the club would take it on themselves to hire a proper band with a bunch of Richmond supporters who can sing to record a proper version, but I don't think that can happen.
Hate it all you want, but save the hyperbole and hysteria
