Humorous, to say the least. First the school yard bullying tactics, now the poor little school boy excuse that "we want to sing the RC song", but for reasons unbeknownst to the rest of us you don't. Oh dear.....

Tell you what,

How about we stop boring the 6 other posters that check this thread and get on with life.

We'll keep winning, you keep justifying abysmal losses by blaming it on a lack of team unity and leave it at that.

Make yourself known on the sidelines at Elsterniwck park, Friday night 15 weeks time from now and I'll dedicate a goal for you.

I should lighten up on Hampton, after all, society needs a lowest common denominator.

For the price of 2 cents, I wish to make the following points:

1. Club XVIII (South) is not a particularly high standard of VAFA football. In fact it is the polar opposite for sure;

2. If a group of players are given the option of playing as part of a Premier Thirds competition, but choose as a group to play Club XVIII (South) instead, they have every right to do so;

3. in the circumstances where those players have made that decision, in my view to play at a lower standard than they would have played had they remained with their old club, I think it's very ordinary form to be bagging opposition teams at the lower grade, anonymously to boot, for not being of the requisite standard to provide a decent contest on a Saturday afternoon.

4. if the RC clubbies team has blended into the club so well as has been indicated, then hopefully future postings regarding many of these players' performance will appear on the Division 4 thread. One would hope this is due to several of those clubbies players graduating to reserve and senior football as and when required by their club.

5. AHP, if you don't want to get up at 7.30am to travel to play football on a sh!thole ground, maybe try playing at a higher standard where you often get to play at 2pm. The grounds which they're running around on in Premier Thirds are top notch...oh hang....sorry.....silly me ;)

6. As a former Hampton resident (though never a player for the Rovers) I take offence at the lowest common denominator point. It's a diversely rich suburb, kinda like Richmond, but nothing like Camberwell.

every seniors match?

did you watch them on saturday AHP?

also good to see you disrespect the opposition teams again by giving reference to playing in the grand final after round 4

as for F45 you know exactly the player I am talking about

uncle mick, if AHP had of said that about a club that I was involved with i would be furious. more than happy to display AHP's playing number so that when you do meet the RC boys again he will get what is coming to him

Scribe welcome to the Mensa Board of the VAFA haha.

Just to go over thoughts on your post

1. You are right it is a low league but you play where you can especially when given 3 weeks to create a team

2. If given the opportunity to play clubbies at a former home we wouldn't be havin this convo

3. I know you were having a go at AHP but i don't think i have potted another team so far

4. The opportunity to play in the seniors will no doubt come up in time

5. I think we have played on some decent ground and will continue to do so. I think the councils have done a great job over the last few years to get grounds going. Wasn't that long ago the season was postponed as most ground were a disgrace.

6. Could be worse we could all be playing out at Mt. Lillydale.

Love the clubbies thread, all bitch until someone does there tips on a Thursday. Also Gunn reserve can you tell us what has happened to the ground? played a bit there and i like it. It's a decent blow for Ormond to not really have home ground advantage all year.

Big games this week aswell

Goise I seriously don't know which player your talking about. even our captain has been rotated???

Uncle Mick,

I thought you said Hampton had improved in leaps and bounds since last year?

HAHAHA, your side is pathetic. Should we be lucky enough to play the rabble in hampton again, we'll play with 8 men to make the contest interesting. Maybe then you'll get to sing the club song.

Worry about your own dismal club and let us get on with what we do best. Win matches.

It's the appaulling performances that your club puts in each week that has the VAFA questioning whether or not to cease the clubbies competition.

Do us a favour and withdraw your side from the competition, that way we don't have to get up at 7:30 am to get to your shit hole of a ground for the 4 points.

Hey AHP, not sure a club who is the highest district club along with Oakleigh in the whole of the Ammo's can be called dismal, especially coming from a person who is representing a club who is in the lowest possible division in the VAFA, but as said previously you probably don't know if you are supporting Scotch seniors (Premier) or Richmond Centrals seniors (Division 4).

Your old elitist ways are coming shining out mate "your sh1t hole of a ground". Personally i think it is in pretty good nick for a council run ground.
Also you are belittling a team who has been together for 2 years & is continueing to improve, unlike your team where you have been playing in a club within a club for many years.

Do us all a favour and stop wasting our oxygen and go and cry some more about how you got left out in the cold by the Scotch boys.

Thanks to all the contributors. This thread is only matched by the " B Grade" Thread. Notice any similarities in teams?

fire away mate.

fire away mate.
No need to be nasty Carlton;)

After a sip of Bulmers by the open fire this evening, I've had the opportunity to calm down and assess our situation of bigfooty.

Somewhere along the line, friendly inter-club banter has turned a touch nasty and personal. We're all playing clubbies for the love of the game, whether we chose to play because of our playing ability or time constraints, at the end of the day, we want a game of footy and a beer afterwards.

There is no need, nor a place, for personal attacks on clubs or individuals. A sin I've been found guilty of on more then one occasion. For this I apologise.

To Hampton Rovers Football Club, a mere gander at my record of posts would be enough ammunition for the club to come after me brandishing baseball bats and and array of deadly weapons. For this I apologise

To my own club, I've painted a picture at RCAFC thats been projected as arrogant and elitist. For this I apologise

So boys, with any luck we can restore this thread to it's intended purpose - The discussion of the game we love so very much.

Good Luck for the season, look forward to sharing a beer with a few of you.

Is your real name Germaine Greer?

hahaha

Let's concetrate on this weeks Games if there is no input on last weeks games. massive week top four playing each other, bottem 2 playing each other and mazenod and st marys is an 8 point game as far as the season in concerned.

F45 tips

Mazenod to beat St Marys at the Dale by 6 goals

Richmond Central by 15 points over OGS in the first Trans-Yarra Cup

Hampton by a goal over Kew. C'mon Uncle Mick don't let me down

Caufield by 5 goals over Ormond after a tough week

happy tipping

Nice to see someone has made you pull your head in. Its amazing to see how much respect you have shown to your new club with the comments you have made. If I was an established member of the RCAFC I would be pretty pissed at you.

It's getting resurfaced for the "drought-proof" grass. Hopefully will get on it later in the year, but more than likely will be playing out the year sharing with Caulfield Grammar.

Ahhhh I see. Have had the same thing done to our cricket grounds and I tell you it is worth it. Straight after it's "done" it looks terrible and you think WTF have they done the grass is Orange. over the next year it becomes really really good and holds up in summer time and is sweet for the footy season.

Established member here, and not pissed at all. Everything and everyone will take time to settle and get used to the situation. RC wants the clubbies to win!

All clubs want their sides winning and I'm sure any club would welcome an influx of 40 players who will make your club competitive, but I'm interested to know what the real RC people think of the new "side" singing their own song? And how do the minority feel who are in this group, but weren't part of the transfers from OS? I'm finding it hard to make sense of it.

Lets use this thread to focus on the footy boys. We are not acheiving anything by throwing around negative comments and we must remember that Club XVIII Football is all about having a bit of fun (no matter whether you are winning or losing). My round up from the weekend below:

Richmond Central vs Ormond - great contest despite the already mentioned involvement of the umpires. Both sides near certainties to be taking part in finals action, so the return battle will be much anticipated.

Mazeond vs Hampton - the nodders got the jump early and never looked as if they were going to be challenged. Davis to good up forward with 8 against a Hampton backline that were getting no relief.

Old Geelong vs Kew - looks like a good start by Kew before OGGs finally hit their straps. Even spread of goalkickers from the boys at Como could mean the cats have some depth in 2010?

St Mary's vs Caulfield - reasonably tight contest to half time given Caulfield's scoreboard inaccuracy, but a 12 goal second half sealed the deal.

Big week ahead with some finals shaping contests ahead. Looking forward to it lads!

agree with the RC vs Ormond game, either team could have got over the line with the umpiring which was some of the worst i have seen, and im sure people who were there would agree.

st marys were suprisingly competitive against caul in the first half but the class and run of the fielders was outstanding, they all run hard and it didnt look like watching a clubbies game at all, even with st marys (all due respect) looking like a reserves team, possibly seniors in a lower grade

from what i have heard mazenod started well and continued very well against a very depleted hampton (apparently only 17 players for most of the game?)

old geelong look like a fit side running away with the game against kew later on and will almost definately feature in finals.

very big games this week with RC vs OG at KB oval and CG vs Ormond, big battle for the top 4, would be great to see RC and CG both win so round 6 has a undefeated clash for top of the table!

mazenod to beat st marys

central to beat geelong

kew to beat hampton

caul to beat ormond

Singing 2 theme songs is a joke. Can't help, but have a very ordinary opinion of that group.
Mazenod were pretty impressive on their home ground. Linked up really well. Had a lot of front runners, but the side was too classy and those types were never going to be exposed by us. Our cause wasn't helped when 5 players didn't turn up and we were down to 17 players by 1/4 time. The overweight full forward is a class act for someone his size.
Probably our best chance at a win this weekend which will no doubt see some blokes who tend to go missing put their hand up for a game.

Mazeond vs Hampton - the nodders got the jump early and never looked as if they were going to be challenged. Davis to good up forward with 8 against a Hampton backline that were getting no relief.

From what you'd heard, or what you read in earlier posts?

It's pretty clear this early on that 5 sides are fighting for 4 positions. St.Mary's, Kew & HR will battle it out for the spoon. Hard to pick a form line cos I would've predicted Mazenod to be the unlucky side before last weekend, but if they play like they did on the weekend they'll be right in the mix. They looked a lot better than anyone else we've played this season.

Good Luck for the season, look forward to sharing a beer with a few of you.

AHP

Enjoy your success this year. Premierships are never easy so I wish you well in this endeavour.

However, once this is out of the way, perhaps you guys could go on to play at a higher level given the age of your playing group and ability. Don't rule out playing senior footy, yes you might even make new friends and blend in, or challenging yourselves by playing the higher level Club 18 footy.

The fact that the clubs you leave behind aren't begging for your return says alot about the individual characters involved.

Good luck.

My tips for tomorrow:

St Mary's vs Mazenod - the Nodders are just starting to hit their straps after a big win last weekend. Davis to kick another 8.......?

Richmond Central vs Old Geelong - should be too strong in front of a big home crowd. The benchmark of the competition.

Kew vs Hampton Rovers - who will notch up their first win for the year, or will we see a draw..........??! Home side to be too strong.

Caulfield vs Ormond - class will show out in this battle of 2nd vs 4th. The fielders easily.

Cracking weekend of Clubbies South to come!

well said JAK, the sad thing is, there are players in the team this year that know they could play higher division footy, and others that have the time to train three nights a week

amazing scenes

good luck to all in their respective matches

Was able to get down to KB reserve on Saturday, the old bird and I set ourselves up in our camping chairs and nestled under my favourite doona while nursing a hot water bottle.

Old Geelong seemed to smash the snakes in the midfield, leaving the onballers swaying like pine trees in the OGGS boys wake. It was almost like they were creating corridors for the boys to run through with the footy. A very good win by the gents from Como Park.

Looking forward to this weeks clash of 1v2. The snakes need to look out for one Bretty Scott, has been firing on all cylinders all year and his pin point skills and silky smooth movement will be on show.

I think that if the RC boys dont get back some midfield strength from their "rotation policy" the OC boys will be to strong.

Looking forward to another week of red hot footy!
