The entire thing is ridiculous.

The game was historically meant to be 18 v 18.

They introduced the interchange sub to make it fairer for teams copping an injury.

The coaches and high performance managers hijacked the game and turned it from 18 v 18 to 22 v 22. This facilitated the full ground press and team defensive play which is ruining the spectacle.

Pretty simple, go back to picking your best 18 and then you can have 4 injury subs sitting on the bench who if come on, permanently repL e that player for the game.

that's the key word right there. they want to make things fair. well, the game isnt fair. the fixture isnt fair.

The AFL caving to the coaches on this has been really poor. They went down to low interchanges partially to take control away from the coaches. Of course the coaches were going to push back. Zero need for the AFL to give throw them a bone. This does nothing for concussion in my opinion. If the AFL is concerned that clubs are hiding concussions, that is a bigger concern that requires a different solution than a concussion sub. They've also put themselves in a corner by doing this so late. The decision is now rushed and has played out in the public. Amateur week by the AFL.

Going to be plenty of tight hammys and groins halfway through the third quarter the year. Especially if there’s no rule to say the injured player misses 12 days.

Don’t mind the idea but this will be manipulated.
