Won't happen and we have zero salary room with King Lukosius Rankine Miller all signing or signed and Rowell Anderson to come
Maybe if we hadn't given someone:whistle: a 5 year 400k deal
Yep. Bewildering how they thought that was what we needed to make the next step. Might need to trade a few out (to free cap space) with high draft picks (eg our usual method of overpaying) and hope some poor fool agrees to come here. No point having a list of 49. Our injury list (touchwood) seems to have stabilised this year. If there’s a positive to come out of this schmozzle.

These coaching threads make me laugh. Every moderately poor loss and it’s, “Dew’s gone now, untenable, that’s the straw, pack your bags”. This board sounds like so many others, it’s almost caricature how much we resemble Port’s complaints from five years ago, GWS, Carlton for the last two decades, Adelaide before they won well a couple weeks ago, even naysayers calling Fagan ill equipped to win a premiership during the preseason.

You’ll eventually be right if you keep repeating it.

But five years seems about right to me, there’ll either be improvement or not. But there won’t be a sacking after a loss to Brisbane, or Sydney in a couple of weeks. The start was always the hard part of our draw this year, just chill for a bit longer.

If it does get bad we’ll be losing to Hawthorn and North. And then the AFL will try to enact the Clarkson plan - that may or may not happen too, who knows?

It would make sense
If he comes in, collects 25+ possessions and dobs 2 goals with 3 assists no-ones complaining about triggering a bonus
If it's 250k-show us what you've got , it's still a loss for us but not as catastrophic
The length is more the issue then the money anyway.

It’s sometimes feels like our list management is always a bit Conservative perhaps thinking of the next job ( cough cough Scott Clayton) whereas the list management for big teams and I would even include Freo in that ( as they seem to enjoy bending us over) seem to have win the trade or you can **** off type mentality from their management group. And my thinking in this area is based on the fact we can all name a number of trades where we have been fleeced but I don’t know if any of us can name a trade where we fleeced someone, happy to be corrected

Getting pick 17 for Harley Bennell seemed ok.

Getting pick 17 for Harley Bennell seemed ok.
From memory we gave them back pick 22 or 23. So we gave away a top 2 pick that loved the club for a 5 place upgrade. Now we all know that it didn’t work out for Harley at Freo but we didn’t know that at the time of the trade. Fleeced

Same with the Saad trade, gave away a CONTRACTED player for magic beans, 3 years later that club on sold him for pick 7.

I’m tired of being a laughing stock, we do this time and time again. the 2MP and Brodie trades are further examples, Weller for pick 2 ffs, Greenwood, McKenzie who goes on to be top 3 BnF at Port

Would love to hear the full story of our list management one day…
I would like to know if it's dictated by head office, ie do we have to select players from non afl backgrounds on our rookie list. Seems stupid that we aren't using all our draft picks when it would be easy to demote 3 more players to the rookie list even a Corbett or Graham , then get rid of three of our list clogging rookies to complete our list??? . We are missing out on the Kai Lohmanns at 30

After the Carlton match MacPherson was doing run throughs centre square amongst all the punters having an after siren kick
He could have easily done that on the back training ground out of sight but you know much more drama to do it in front of the stand and I'm sure super impressive to the coaching panel
I remember thinking"I hope they're not falling for this shit"
I was wrong

Hopefully this thread gets a reason to be used soon.
I just cannot see any improvement under Dew and we are into Season 5.
Just about every talented player is not living up to that talent. Player development is very stagnant.
Playing McPherson today just sums Dew up to me.
It's as though the media have been instructed to not ask him any tough questions at press conferences.
Surely his free pass has to be nearing expiration.

TBH I think seeing the guys that have left develop so quickly makes me very confident that he's no longer the man to take us forward.

Lyons develops to an AA on a top 4 team
Scrimshaw is playing really exceptionally at Hawthorn now
Brodie is now a guaranteed starting mid at a top 4 team
Wright has been a genuinely good KPF/ruck for Essendon
May has now become one of the best key defenders in the game.

Players clearly aren't developing well enough under Dew when we have guys like Rankine, Luko, Hollands, Flanders etc. still sitting in the reserves or playing dreadful football in the firsts with the talent levels that they have.

If you ever get the chance, ask about the Lyons one… it’s a great story they give, full of praise for themselves on why it was a genius move. Hmmm.. I’d love to speak to Mark Evans again and see if it was still a master stroke.

Every medical sub is required to do their running straight after a game to get their match fitness up, so it definitely wasn’t to impress the coaching panel. Buttt, it was a strange choice to do it straight after the siren. Would’ve been the high performance manager’s directive, not Darcy‘s.

Thanks for that insight
Strange he'd do it with 2000 people on the ground but okay

It was interesting in the SEN interview with King and Cornes-they're obviously rooting for him
Again, you feel like the Club has painted itself into a corner with Dewy
Unless we get Clarkson , can we really afford to allow another untried coach have another 5 year apprenticeship?
Odds are heavily weighted towards him being here next year whatever happened in 2022 I reckon

Agree with this as well.
If not Clarkson who would the club be targeting?
Dew probably gets another two years
