Agree with this as well.
If not Clarkson who would the club be targeting?
Dew probably gets another two years
I would be very surprised if Dew gets another 2 years if we only have 2-3 wins by bye.

Clarkson does not appeal to me at all. He had his run. Actually, he messed up Hawks the last couple of years.

Who else? Buckley, Lyon? Please not.

Not Clarkson, Buckley or Lyons but maybe target Don Pyke from Sydney. He did well with the Crows and has boosted the Swans back to the top

If you ever get the chance, ask about the Lyons one… it’s a great story they give, full of praise for themselves on why it was a genius move. Hmmm.. I’d love to speak to Mark Evans again and see if it was still a master stroke.
Didn't Mark Evans coerce Clayton into trading pick 2 (Brayshaw) for Weller?

What about mark choc Williams?
Apparently very good at developing players

100% - premiership coach, developer of talent at Melbourne, better salesman than Dew, won't lose anything with the relationships, knows what's involved in an expansion club.

If we don't lose any players then I think he should get a 1 year deal, if we don't finish bottom 4, 2 years. If he can get us in the 9-12 bracket, 3 years.

Our coaching situation right now reeks of Dimma Hardwick all over. Richmond fans all wanted him sacked in 2016 the year before Richmond went on to win the first of their three flags under Dimma in 2017. Not saying that we will go on to win the flag next year but quite often fans and clubs get frustrated about their coach right before they are on the brink of something great. So do we stick fat or step into the unknown and potentially put up with another 5 years of adapting and rebuilding.

If you look at our list we are in an incredibly healthy and promising spot. In fact, this is the best list on paper we have ever had in our short history. I really feel like next year is a make or break year for our SUNS. I for one am expecting a huge difference in W/L ratio next year. We cannot underestimate a fully healthy fit and firing Ben King. We have had multiple re-signings for core players and belief is there within the playing group by all reports.

The only concern I have is Dew's inability to develop players and get the most out of their potential. Right now I'd say this is our largest area of concern. Rowell, Anderson, Rankine and Luko should be far more influential and better than what they are right now more than 3 years into the AFL system. Our club needs to have an internal review into player development. As others have pointed out Brodie, Wright, Lyons, Ah Chee, Lynch, May etc have all gone to another level of their football under different coaches and schemes. Where are we going wrong? If it was just a few you could say it was an outlier but it is a consistent theme for us which indicates there is a far larger problem at our club.

Rowell and Anderson are 20 year old kids. To expect much more then what they are producing (which is pretty damn good) is a bit of a stretch mate.

Probably my bias showing but

Noah Anderson is killing it inside and would be close to leading our b&f

Someone cough cough might have said 3 years ago when Rowelly was collecting BOGs in his first 4 matches that Noah would win a Brownlow before him
Haven't seen anything to disavow me of that opinion
Rowell Anderson Miller Witts Collins Ainsworth Rankine Powell Ballard and (King*)are the core of a very good football team
Why we can't deliver consistency is what keeps Dew and his cronies awake at night

Rowell just still seems to have lost that burst of speed he showed in 2019

Noah has a lot of Fyfe about him. He gains another 5kgs or so and he's going to be very hard for opposition to stop.

That combination of size, ball winning ability and outside run is the holy trinity these day in midfielders. Noah has everything to be a very special player, hasn't really played a bad game yet this season.
Really needs to work on slowing himself down before he kicks tho, he has a decent kick he just chooses the dump kick too often.

It's been taken a bit out of context, my point was we continually struggle to develop our players properly. If they were at another club they'd be playing to Patty Cripps level was my point.

Noah is averaging 27 touches, 6 clearances and 10 contested touches a game in his 3rd season. No-one else bar Tom Green in that draft class is even close to those numbers.
How much more do you want from him?
Rowell has played 24 games. He is literally a season behind Noah and is 6th in the league for contested possessions. You are expecting too much for kids that haven't even played 50 games yet.
