I heard some Journo talking about this with Hinkley and thought it was relevant to Dew as well. He has started coaching from the bench, does that mean that the coach in the box is actually running the show and a potential reason we have seen some improvement?

Dew even praised Steven King for his work in the box in the 4th quarter…

Food for thought

I wonder this too.

Realistically, the coaches probably often run strategies through Dew (and any head coach)—even on game day, and we never hear about it.

Was interesting Dew made note of it though. Clearly regards King highly.

I reckon the bench might suit Dew’s style though. Will be interesting if he keeps it up.

If there are still people not convinced that Dew is a dud read about Markov on AFL news.
Compare what Collingwood has now to what the Suns are enduring.
This is classic Melbourne centric media. It's laughable.
Markov is BELOW AVERAGE is every catagory on player rankings. He is being carried by good players around him and will be in the VFL side as soon as they get players back and we'll see how happy is is then.

He is elite quick but no matter how fast he is Legs would still only be depth here
He's not getting a game in front of Lemmens DMac Weller or Powell or Ellis

If King is running the show then how come he is not sitting beside Dew on the bench?.
Note that Josh Drummond is sitting next to him. Interesting that the backline is noted to have won the game.

I have my doubts on Dew still but my God this is spot on. The hysteria in here about Markov is laughable.

Our defence has been shocking most of the season though. Like, leaking goals.

Will Powell made a big difference the last few weeks in stopping big scores. Allows other players to play their more natural game, too. They definitely are working more cohesively now.

Looking back having Powell, weller, lemmens, Andrew come in with no pre season games think it hurt our back 6 early. We now look a lot more settled and hopefully they can all stay fit and build some cohesion. The connection looked good from back to middle on the weekend, now just need the same from middle to forward and we can really push the top teams.

What happens with a fit Budders?

I have. Even a vocal critic of us letting Brodie go but he is also below average to average in basically every criteria this season

Good point. Brodie’s stats for this year are atrocious. Not a peep out of those who criticised us for letting him go.
The anxiety was we had let the "wrong one go"
ie kept Fiorini and let Brodie go .- we couldn't keep both
Right now Brayden is on the rise and Wil in a hole
I think that trade gets judged in a couple of years
Personally Ive always been a BF fan but I liked Brodie too
I don't think that would have been an easy decision at Club level

Bodhi Uwland and Caleb Graham had great games last week.

The only reason I joined this site was to vent my frustration where this club is heading. If they stick with Dew the great players we have will have missed the opportunity to experience finals.

The irrefutable proof that Dew can’t coach is just by looking at his deplorable record with a very good list of early round picks. No other club would have tolerated his performance but the Suns extended his contract.

It irks me that the AFL News talks about the Suns on a roll having won the last two games. They beat two struggling teams racked by injuries.

Having a heap of players who were early picks isn't going to help much when they are all in the first few years of their career. I do agree that now the results should start coming but the first few years of dews coaching we were back to rock bottom and shouldn't be included in his record really. North have quite a few early draftees now and don't think it is going to help them much for a couple years atleast.

Yep, next 2 years we should go up. If not, ...

On the other hand, Carlton are 8 years into a re-build and 3 coaches and ... Let's see tonight.

I have to say what North dished up recently was shocking despite having genius Clarko in charge. Their list is not as bad. Some players were not putting effort in.

Clarko is a little overrated in the back-end of his career.

He dominated with a good list and some solid concessions and then absolutely tanked the club. Hawks also arguably dominated after the expansion clubs came in, which I think kept them on top longer as other clubs couldn’t catch up through draft/trade as easily.

The worst of the most recent “dynasty” sides, in my view.

Without taking a shot a guy who is clearly struggling with his mental health..
Is everyone still upset we didn’t go for Clarkson?

We seem to be getting good at dodging bullets that North Melbourne end up getting sprayed with. Tarryn and now Clarkson.
