So a rumour kicking around this week is Evans has a two-million a year offer out to Clarkson. Heard it twice from two semi-reliable peeps.
Hope so — it'd be gross negligence if they didn't throw AFL money at a coach like that.

Yeah I think a high profile coach gets around one million. Not entirely certain.

Just saw Rocket's post game press conference. Same old excuses injuries, inexperience & turnovers.
No mention of poor structures, lack of organisation at stoppages, a dysfunctional forward line etc etc.
He also isn't saying young players anymore he's now saying KIDS over and over again. Over it

anyone advocating Clarkson - can you give a *specific* reason why he is great vs specific reasons why Rocket isn't?
please don't just say "poor structure, poor skills, forward line doesn't work". that isn't enough. explain why that is the case please? if you can't do that then I cannot see how you can either support or take umbrage with any coach.
I'd also love everyone to really have a look and try to understand exactly what a head coach is responsible for vs assistant coaches. it's my belief that we are bereft of leadership and talent amongst our assistants and this has the largest impact on poor performance.

He's looking to save face now for when the end comes.
He will go back to Melbourne and we will be left to pick up the pieces.
No longer do we have The likes of Karmichael Hunt and his mates snorting white powder and parading about the Coast like they own the joint so he has done a good job because the good people of the Coast can't cop that crap anymore. So Rocket will be very fondly remembered.
He came here to take us to finals footy and tried to bring in a game plan to take us there but sadly it turns out we are nowhere near ready.
So we need to tone it back and go back to basics with a new focus on contested footy and defence under a totally new regime.

^ saying "4 cups" illustrates my point so well. to be honest a lot of us here have no idea what we are talking about. that's okay, but surely you have to tone down the vehement support/hatred when you've demonstrated a complete lack of knowledge.
if we swapped the lists they inherited completely, I'm not sure how different things would've been. so much of it is kick, injuries, players coming good, on field chemistry... I'm not confident enough to say he's significantly better or worse.

Fair enough. A couple of things that are evident when you hear ex players talk about him. The players don't love him, but they respect him immensely. He's there to coach and has targets and rules that must be met, and not be their mate.
There was a good story about him recently where now senior coaches Fagan, Cameron, Beveridge, Simpson, Bolton all talk about him.
"Clarko played footy hard and tough," Leon Cameron concluded. "How he coached his players was hard and tough and when I walked in the door you could see that. He doesn't accept people who aren't going to play hard and tough and with that comes the third thing, the amount of spirit and energy, getting everyone to play hard and tough footy and that comes through the way he trained his players and spoke to his players.
Rocket has been a godsend for us when we were an undisciplined social club rather than a footy club. But I'm not sure he can take us forward like Clarkson, or someone who has been under him like Ratten / Barker.
If you can find that article on AFL.com.au called The coach whisperer, it's a good read on why he's successful.

I get the impression he'll be judged from earlier in the year. Evans was filthy after the Lions then GWS games with a full list. Coch was not impressed either with Rocket over the whole China debacle. Even told the media that Rocket was coach, not a travel agent which was a fair clip.
Weren't there strong rumours he would get the sack if we lost to Hawthorn and GWS in rounds 3 & 4?
