how on earth was this song not mentioned

7 mins of pure bliss. also Barnseys best vocal performance IMO.
Jimmy Barnes solo is unlistenable.. all of it.

First Chisel song I ever heard, thank you 3RRR. Was amazed - just a masterpiece.

I've been a massive Chisel and Jimmy fan since prolly grade 7. I used to play 8ball for a club in Pooraka, SA Rehearsals, and frequently saw and talked to Tim Prestwich, Steves brother. He played in a band the owner of SA Rehearsals was in "Wild Card" (also drummed for Hot Chisel}. but the tour after Steve died they renamed to the "Tim Prestwich band". Tim was an awesome bloke and did a phenomenal version of Bow River, could sound just like Mossy.

A couple of notable omissions imho include Mr Crown Prosecutor and The Things I love in You. Also love I'm gonna Roll Ya. Classic lyrics.

EDIT Do yourselves a favour and buy the "live tapes" vol 1,2 and 3.

ha ha. Still remember as young tacker, Cold Chisel were gone before I even knew they no longer toured.
Instead Jimmy Barnes went to a solo career. Crazy times.

I won two Tickets, two signed LTD ed singles and two tank tops to that first tour. The Original Barnstorming tour with Joe Ely.

Went down to the Largs pier for the official release of the song/album Lags Pier Hotel/Rage and Ruin and when Foley unveiled a plaque for Chisel.
It was meant to be a private gathering-function but Jimmy insisted we got in so we mixed with the hob knobs and got into the free drinks and food. He did a few numbers that day.

Off East, 1 of the 1st albums I ever bought, pretty much every song from this album would be among my favs. Chisel were so good live.

i really like the mossy tracks "Never Before" and "best kept Lies"(Don on the organ-magic)

Another great cover was "Wild Thing" off "You're 13, You're Beautiful......." which is probably my most cherished piece of vinyl.

Remember in the 80's when copies of You're Thirteen... sold for megabucks? It was nigh on unobtainable. First heard it at Monash Uni library, they had a mangy old copy that had been through the ringer.

Nowadays there's a lot of "mint" copies being sold on eBay. Pretty sure the ones with $3.99 price stickers are (virtually worthless) US re-issues. Been issued a few times on CD and isn't the collector's item it once was.

Too true. Mint copies will still pull good money though. When they released it in the early 90s as a double with "The best of Cold Chisel" CD (gold cover) i bet a few vinyl dealers were spewing. The 12 inch Khe Sahn single still pulls good money. I recently bought the re released back catalogue on vinyl remastered even though i already had all the albums on vinyl, cd and cassette lol. Even updated all the CDs to all the remastered re-releases.

Always thought of Best Kept Lies as an anomaly that didn't belong on the album and used to habitually skip over it, yet Monica is a similarly oddball track but one that I like.

The Party's Over is another one that some people rate but which didn't do anything for me.

They have lots of oddball tracks. Mexican Wedding on The Perfect Crime Album is another one.

Amazing early success, but by the time he got around to those soul covers, people started thinking "Hang on, is this any good or not?". My old man was a fan until When A Man Loves A Woman...

I've got all the Moss/Walker/Prestwich outside material - and I mean all - but have kept clear of Jimmy's.

They were going for over $200 around 1989 I think? Even a well worn copy would get $100. The re-issue on CD really killed prices.
