Opinion Collingwood don't want Adam Treloar... recently signed him to a multi year big $$$ deal.

By the way it's not the 1960s, maybe it is like that in the west, but families don't just revolve around the male, believe it or not

What does that have to do with anything? I think Treloar and his wife made a sensible and perfectly reasonable decision. He stays in Melbourne where they both want to live, while his wife go to Queesnland for 5 months and continue her dream of being a professional netballer, something that was only going to happen for 5 months, and something plenty of families go through if a family member is a member of the military or a miner.

That way Treloar's wife gets to pursue her dream, and then comes back 5 months later to her home and where she wants to live long term.

What happens if she didnt get another contract in QLD but got one back in Melbourne?

Treloar just requests another trade? Is that thought cohesive enough?

You dont rip up a five year close to $5 m contract somewhere you love to work and live because your partner gets a 10 month short term deal in Brisbane.

And the angle you are taking is somewhat reverse discrimination. Id like to hear your views if the roles were reversed.
You understand she didn't get a contract at Collingwood (the same club as her partner), so it's unlikely they will offer her one again, she's gone back to her existing club, where she played before Treloar came to Melbourne, I would think it's more likely she gets a contract extension there, then get another here.

Treloar doesn't rip up his contract, all that happens would be gold coast pay his contract instead of Collingwood. I think this will take a massive toll on Treloars mental health, by digging his heals in, he clearly still wants to be at Collingwood and I don't think he's chosen the Bulldogs rationally, it's more like to say F U Collingwood, I'll do the opposite of what you tell me and I'll stay in Vic, I think the mentality will only end in tears

the real reason = he left seeking success and the Pies part in it (players want him out, salary too high, salary cap problems etc) was just a smoke screen
this was the key moment in Adz making HIS decision and it happened this year

Plain to see who was on the grass when he decided Collingwood was the better choice.

Gold coast were the first club Collingwood went to for starters, Treloar was the one who didn't want to go.

what happens if she gets another contract up there for the next season? It's not she's a sh*t player, she could play up there for 2-3 years. This was the whole point of Collingwood trying to trade him to make it a win win. Your responses lack any cohesion or thought for the whole situation, it's not a man's world, where the family's life revolves around the man, Treloar would have got paid the same to play up there, by staying here, he's making it extremely hard on his partner to play her best and get another contract, which is selfish.
Why not just admit you work for Collingwood's PR dept.

Seriously mate, did you ever consider that both Treloar and his wife were 100% content with her decision to take the Qld contract while he stayed in Melbourne? Who on earth are you to judge either of them?

You make it sound like he didn't consult his partner in any of this.

Do you honestly believe he would stay without Kim's approval?

You are delusional.

Some interesting stories circulating now about why Treloar's contract was so heavily back-ended, why Collingwood were more than happy about seeing the back of Stephenson (doesn't explain the rationale for the contract in the first place), and how the ruthlessness of the decisions were messaged to the playing group.

There are always multiple sides to any story...

End of the day Collingwood didn't think it would work either, and saw it as a perfect platform to salary dump, he's lucky that it's not like other sports around the world, where you get traded wherever the club likes if your contracted.

Well I mean that's true but at least they could be honest about the salary dump and not blame his partner for the woes.

Ok well I guess I'll just have to read every thread on BigFooty to find these alternative 'stories'.
Translation: there's been a bunch of random rumours posted by every random making up or claiming an "inside source" , none of which are accurate.

You sit on the porch in the afternoons with bib-n-brace overalls on ,a stalk of wheat between your teeth playing a banjo.... guaranteed.

"Collingwood list manager Ned Guy last week claimed the club's salary cap squeeze was a "beat-up", however, Anderson on Sunday admitted it had limited the Magpies' ability to chase free agents.

In a letter to members, the Pies' chief executive said "salary cap pressure was certainly a key part of the decision" to move on the four players. "To be blunt, we found ourselves in a bind," Anderson wrote."

At least now they are acknowledging the elephant in the room

Buckley was on the ropes and gone for all money a few years ago.
In return for “being on call” Father Gerard Whateley reshaped Buckley’s public image and it was mostly swallowed hook line and sinker by the masses.
But as is often the case and is being brutally exposed by the day, Leopards very rarely change their spots ...

And right on cue ...
Father Whateley about to “interview” Buckley on SEN ...
