Thomas getting a good education today. A lot of work before he is top 10 next year
A lot of these players are top age players, and Sandy have always been good. But it's good experience against some of the best going into next year.
He'll benefit from another pre-season. Add on some strength and he stil looks like a baby compared to some of them

Now I know he’s wearing 7 and not 11 I’ll be able to spot him!
Got to the ground about 10 minutes before half time, wind is blowing very hard, Levi Ashcroft will be close to the best player in the league within 5 years, he’s scary good even after only watching 10 minutes of footy!
When did you get back from London?

That would be perfect!!

most memorable goal I’ve seen I reckon

I've been telling mick on X to get a decent highlights package of himself together before tom gets drafted otherwise the media will only have that goal for vision.

Maybe one of the talented crew here can do it.

This is what PMBangers said about Tommy.

"McGuane and Burton for next year are exciting for Western, whilst neither are that big contested possession winning mids they're both exceptional ball users and hard workers around the ground."

he had 28 disposals and 6 marks in today's game. Going up against the likes of Murphy Reid and Levi Ashcroft.

Tommy’s bottom age year as a 16 year old- only just turned 17 this week

I’m not inclined to agree with PM* here. Naicos is one of the 3 best contested ball players in the game, but coming out of jnr footy he was considered an outside specialist. Unless McGuane’s getting 20+ handball receives and 8 marks a game he’s winning a lot of open play contested ball which is the most important kind.

He looks 65 kg dripping wet so as he matures and learns how to use his body better the inside the contest stuff will follow. They’re really encouraging numbers for a 16yo so staying healthy is the big one from here.

*that’s not me hating on PM because he and P4L do great work. I think people get a little caught up in what a contested possession actually is.

No slight on McGuane of course, but for clarity I'm not counting ground ball gets as CPs like Champion data do.
In McGuane's case it's certainly not an unwillingness as he's absolutely keen to have a crack and quite good around stoppages, think with maturity and size he becomes quite a nice balanced mid

I can see the BL & GC being interested in CFC's future first, both their 2025 U18 academy teams are stacked with talent. The QLD academy team rolled Vic Metro a month ago and will be heavily represented in the futures game next month. Brisbane still have pick 14 in the 2024 draft which will be swallowed up by Ashcroft if not traded.

So, how good is the young McGuane, he looks good! Is he a top ten pick? CFC will have to make a decision on whether to trade their future first now, risk the current team sliding further down the ladder or back the team to return to finals. CFC could keep future first, see where McGuane lands and trade first out next year.

If CFC and GC come to an arrangement this year for Noble and a future first. CFC could end up with a late first round pick and multiple second round picks, use in a trade for a player or this years strong draft.

*Mudding the water further is whether rules will be introduced next year by the AFL on Academy/FS equalisation, or not!

I wouldn't be surprised to see us trade our F1 to get back into the top 30 of this years draft. plus some points for next year
He'll be a first rounder, whether its top 10 or in the 2nd half of the 1st round depends on his development next year.
