Richmond have 7, we have 6 with a few others. So it really is a b/s award. Especially given the format changed from the original "combined" award, to the AFL minor premier, to its new form this year. Named after some wayne kerr from Melbourne.
So you're saying the Blues are McLelland duds?

Just looked it up - I think you're just going on the original combined award. Cats are killing it if you include the minor premiers era - sitting on 11. We're 9 with Richmond and Hawthorn 8.

I am kicking myself for not properly investigating this prestigious award. Ashamed.

Brayshaw was banging on about the “open era” on the GF commentary. I thought he must have been staring too long at sourpuss Nadal in Brisbane’s forward line for too long…

The men play 23 H&A rounds, the women play 10. How else to balance the significance of it between the men and the women?

Playing devil’s advocate, why does it have to be balanced between the 2? It’s a cumulative total so surely AFLW getting 4 points per win equally impacts the final total as 4 points for a win in AFL.

I don’t really care about it as a trophy because it’s pretty meaningless, but it’d be nice to be able to offer the players a little bonus.

To bring more attention to aflw. It’s not particularly complex

Logical answer

I don’t think anyone was mate. When Daniher kicked that goal I think 100,000 hearts sank across Australia.

I still thought we’d be able to hold on; I mean we held on to a one-point lead against the Giants for 6:33! … but by golly gosh I sure loved being two scores up after Rusty’s goal, so long as it lasted.

A win is a win. Allocating double points in an award most don’t give a * about does 3/5’s of FA to change that. It’s not particularly complex.

It's just a marketing exercise. It's got me caring about the Collingwood AFLWs results, which I don't normally care about - job done.

If you're trying to work out the best club across men's and women's competitions then you have to weight the women's games higher as they play less. Same prize money for both, so should have equal impact on the outcome.

Very happy to see the club confirm re-signing Carmichael, Krueger and Begg for 2024. Also happy that Kelly will be given an opportunity to stake a claim for another year as a train on player over summer. He’s likely as good a chance as any of the delisted or state league options we offer a run.
