I don’t understand how people can’t see our list is in trouble. The fact pendles was our best player on the weekend, a 34 year old mid, speaks volumes of this.
Count me in as well.

We really need a developing KPP at both ends and our great mids are also almost out the door. Naicos is there but premiership teams have a core of great mids
I think we need to draft another couple this year
- Arlo HH Reef realising their potential would make us great as they provide a range of skill sets — but will they?
Can McCreery push into the centre?

The list needs work and wouldn’t surprise me if we dip before rising again

McStay in particular at $650k as a 27yo (turning 28 next season) makes me vomit into my mouth a little.

for those that seem somehow bullish about him I wonder if they have checked his record, as it certainly doesn't point to him being worth anything close to that amount of coin as a KPF solution for us for the next 3 or 4 or 5 years or whatever he is looking for.

I sincerely hope we're not just going back to the phase of paying whoever whatever they ask because they're the only players we can bring in at positions of need, because I thought we were done with that now.
OK . . $650K eh?

Do you have the slightest verification for that other than sensationalist media vomit?

I’ve never seen 650. I’ve seen reports of everything in between 450 and 600. I’d suggest something in between is most likely. 550k for a big body that can pinch hit in the ruck is fine with me. 0 trade cost has to be factored in. Factor in increases in cap means 550k in 3 years is even less.

It's literally been mooted as such by every football reporter going around, from your CH7 faves to those on Foxtel on a Sunday arvo. Keey your eyes and ears open next time you hear someone talking about Collingwood trade news and you'll inevitably hear it again.

Not sure how anyone could have missed it given how much it's been talked about across the season (and especially the past couple of weeks). Like I said they could either all be on a bad bandwagon and way off the mark, or there is a bit of fire to go along with this smoke.

If it's the latter then I hope we don't end up paying him something in the vicinity of 3 mil over 5 years which is what's been reported fairly consistently.

That figure has been kicked around for a while now on various media outlets as the figure he is seeking.

They're either all wrong and just hopping on a shaky bandwagon after some initial poor speculation, or there's actually a bit of fire to go along with this smoke.
Most of us prefer to wait for something other that a roomful of blind mice throwing darts at a dartboard.

It could be sensationalist media vomit, or it could be close to the mark. Who can be sure either way at the moment, I was just commenting on how McStay coming in for that big money contract they've been tossing around would leave me feeling a bit ill because he's certainly not worth that coin.

Nobody will of course haver verification of what he signs for until he actually does (and maybe not even then), but we have form in this and I approach any of these mooted off-season moves with a degree of skepticism which I hope will be proven wrong in the long run.

Now are you referring to BF capologists, or the media there? Wasn't sure which way you you were leaning on that one old mate.

Looks like Jack Graham is open to a trade, he would be perfect as an inside mid

Actually don't mind Graham.
Elite endurance, think he leads Tigers for pressure acts. Big body, does have some shoulder issues but surprisingly only 24. I thought he was older.

Common sense says that he can't be worth more than $400k - $450 at an absolute stretch so it's no surprise the media have him at $650K because he wants to come to the pies.

Jack Graham wants out of Richmond, Lipinski 2.0?

Man the arguing about McStay's contract is ridiculous. They don't know they're just guessing. Every year we see journalist make up stuff and repeat each other as fact.

I'm surprised Graham wants out. I'd say he might go back to SA (from memory) but I wonder if it's a money thing given the big bucks they're likely to be paying Tarranto and Hopper.

I would strongly agree with that, and maybe only for 3 years as well. Anything more and I start getting a bit restless.

I am also quite confident, that the majority people who are experts in AFL would completely disagree with your statement. Do you think Richmond wins their 3 premierships without Dusty, Riewoldt, Lynch, Cotchin? Would Hawthorn have dominated without Hodge, Mitchell, Roughead, Franklin, Burgoyne, Rioli? Would Geelong be continually contending without Hawkins, Dangerfield, Selwood, Cameron, Tom Stewart?

Name me a premiership/GF side that is so even that it doesn't have multiple AA players over multiple years.

Carlton definitely have the A level talent now in Cripps, Walsh, Curnow, Mckay, Weitering. These guys are still young and yet to hit their peak so I'm pretty sure they will rise over the next few years if they maintain their level. As can be seen from their improvement this year. Their previous sides didn't have AA grade talent, only underperforming high draft picks (e.g. Gibbs, Kreuzer, Murphy etc)
Name a premiership side that didn't have a core group of players who played their role at a high level that will be never stars. This is not basketball, there's 18 players on the field moving at once. The team together wins.

Wanting stars is basically the teenage football manager mantra of wanting a quick high. Many of the premiers over the past 12 years have won in the season or seasons following trading out one of their best stars.
