Of course they do, they have more than suitable currency to get a deal done, they just want to have their cake and eat it too.

That will depend on whether the AFL allows them to use it. We don’t know if they’ve even asked at this point, or if failing to make the request is part of the posturing over pick #25 being adequate.

Thought about that too.

Though would still think a lot of other teams would baulk at a player that’s eager to go “home” factor.

Yeah they might draft him but is he really going to perform to his optimum or does he just get a pay packet, run around in the seconds and then ask to go home again?

Big risk on the part of the player that would be, a lot of his development will come in the next couple of years so if he only puts in a half-arsed effort at another club then Geelong probably wont even want him.

I'm sure I've read somewhere that the AFL's stance on the Suns' salary dumps is that they get at least a second round pick back in return, at this point that would likely be pick 25.

The mysteries of drafting, exchanging points, and negotiating about players with other clubs are not my strong point - but are posters really suggesting that we just let Ollie go to the PSD if Geelong don’t offer more than 25?

Isn’t that the same as letting him go for nothing? Out of spite. A sort of misguided gesture to preserve our honour.
Yes. Sometimes you need to make a statement and play hardball. Id suggest that time is now for us. Geelong is being contemptuous and they are the last team we want to be strengthening. Pick 27 in this draft is not a significant price to pay for making this statement.

That was their original stance, but suddenly there was an article yesterday funny enough after the pick swap, that it can now be a future 3rd haha.

It looks like it will have to a choice between Clarke and Henry so it doesn';t look good for Henry
I think they will find a compromise mate.
Maybe trade a Ratogalea for a future 2.
Then offer us there future 1 for Henry.
I think a future first should be the minumum we accept for Henry.
F--ck them maybe also bust there chops a bit more ask for a swap also there 25 for our pick in the 40s

100% Vicky and it's got nothing to do with "honour".

These draftees need to know that they can't just serve out their two years and then go to the club they really wanted to while we have borne all the expense in terms of time, effort and $$$ to bring them up to AFL standard.

We're also known as pushovers at the trade table, so this will send a clear message to all of the other clubs that they need to to come to the trade table ready to negotiate in good faith or piss off.

Both Geelong and Brisbane have acted disgracefully during this trade period and a lot of the other clubs aren't impressed with them at all.

Which will basically be an early 4th given where Geelong is likely to finish. Bravo Gil, Bravo!!!

I would actually trade Henry, 16 and the pick we get for Grundy for pick 7 and a late pick. Top 10 pick much better chance to improve us.

So that works out to be Henry, Pick 16 and either pick 13 or Freo's future 1st for pick 7 and a junk pick?

Rather lopsided that one is.

You throw Henry into the draft tomorrow without any baggage and he goes top 10 for sure imo, so the pick 7 for Henry and 16 proposal isn't unreasonable at all, at least not to anyone outside of Geelong anyway.

Agree. Though the assumption would be he busts his arse at Geelong being his nominated club.

Does La Porchetta at Hoppers Crossing put pineapple on pizza?
Asking for the greater Geelong region.
The answer could unlock 5 trades.

Players from Port Adelaide desperate for the answer.

Yes, yes they do.

They also call a Chicken Parmigiana a "parmi" down there so they'll feel right at home.

They don't want it easy they want it cheap.
Yep. Seems everyone wants to win trade week.

Some were critical of overpaying on Hill but credit to GW on this. We identified him as a target and we went out and paid a value which he thought was fair (GWS agreed). Got it done early, the new acquisition can rest easy in the back half of trade week and goodwill is built with all parties and Hill knows we value him and he has a positive start at his new club.

The biggest player for us this next week is most definitely Tom Mitchell.

If we can get him in (not so keen on Fiorini) we will be laughing.

Imagine the extraction work to the Daicos twins and Pendles on the outside. Checkers playing on a 3rd tall defender up forward. Bobby Hill creating havoc. Development of Krueger and Dean from within.

The only disappointing thing for me is losing Grundy.

He didn't imply that. Henry wants to live and play in Geelong. That's it. It's not immature, it's not juvenile. It's just his preference. There is a big difference in ducking over for dinner costing 2 hours drive compared 15 mins.
Doesn't mean that we let him go for less than a first rounder. We are not a charity reuniting families but a professional football club trying to win premierships.

When I was playing cricket against Hoppers Crossing back in the 80s, the suburb and Club was referred to as Swappers Crossing.

Nothing to do with interchangeable pizza toppings!!!

Even without an exemption for next years first, they’ve got the currency in pick 7. It’s just that they refuse to use it. As I said, they want to have their cake and eat it too. Even with the pick swap they rejected from us they still come out of the trade period as massive winners, gaining Bruhn, Henry, Bowes, and upgrading pick 18 to pick 16, for what amounts to a loss of several later picks. They’re just being ****ing greedy.
