We've only traded a future 2nd and 3rd, right?

We have a number of thirds this year, quite possible we trade back into next year's third round.

Not sure if I'm correct on all that. Don't keep track of the later picks as they're not really important.

If it was that easy, we probably would have done it already to create a Frampton future third. Unless our preference was to bet on ourselves, trade away our own pick and secure someone else’s later…

Is this from Ollie, his manager or the media? If Ollie, then he seems to bend and sway with the wind in what he says about the Pies. It sounds more like manager-speak to put pressure on the Pies. Horrible situation for the kid if he is being (mis)represented like this.
I post again on Ollie, stay the course GW!

Nope. Media didn't rate him in the top 10 ruck man and now he is all of a sudden top 2.

AFL's own statistics had him the 2nd or 3rd ranked ruck over the last 3 seasons (2020-2022 till injured). I'm afraid I'm sceptical that the media would step too far from that ranking as the basis for their assessments. What I'm seeing is more just consistency from the media.

I no longer give a feck about the Henry deal. If it's 25 and 33 then that's what it is.
I no longer care what people think about the Grundy deal. It's done and no amount of whinging will change that.
I do longer care about whether we get Mitchell or not.
If 33 gets us Mitchell, fantastic.
I'm looking forward to a great 2023.
If you want to continuously bag our players, coaches and administrators I'm sure you'd be welcomed on the Geelong board.

Would happily give up pick 27 in this shallow draft that will move out to pick 30 after bids for Grundy. Anyday. I'd trade out McStay's $600k x 5 year contract to fit Grundy in.

Looking at how our ruck division is now led by Cameron and Cox, we've gone from a premier ruck division to a position of weakness.

We've reinvested into our KPF division where we've taken it from a position of weakness to.... a position of weakness.
I'll miss Brodie but a quick reminder that our record without him this year was 13-3
And the Cats won a flag with a less than mediocre ruck.

Not sure where the previous posts have gone but this is why getting a first rounder from the Treloar trade, no matter how many crap later picks we sent back, is a better result than just getting a pick 27.

Don't tell me you would've rather the Treloar trade have given us a single second round pick instead?

I can understand why we traded Grundy even if I don't agree with it but the execution from GW was arguably worse than Ned Guy. Especially when you consider he's been working on this for over 12 months according to him.
I’d rather we hadn’t have had to give up our future first (pick 2) to get back in to that draft in the second round, than have gotten Henry. Correct. Not my problem if you’re too dense to get your head around it.

He was horrible in 20 and 21. Wont count this year as he was injured.

If he was top 2 how come he didn't make AA?

Geelong could have gotten every player they wanted and kept pick 7 just by using their future first rounder on Henry but they wanted to keep that too and traded out their future second in a dumb trade to get 25. The only reason was to bend us over.

Now by the sounds of it his manager is trying to scare us into taking 25. But if Ollie or his manager have anyone to be angry with its bloody Mackie and Geelong for being too greedy with bringing in all these previous first rounders but keeping their future first rounder

The mysteries of drafting, exchanging points, and negotiating about players with other clubs are not my strong point - but are posters really suggesting that we just let Ollie go to the PSD if Geelong don’t offer more than 25?

Isn’t that the same as letting him go for nothing? Out of spite. A sort of misguided gesture to preserve our honour.
It sends a message to managers, players and other club recruiters. There's a line and if you're going to cross it, then it's not going to be to your advantage. The original offer of Pick 38 clearly showed either a lack of respect to the CFC or a total mis-read, to then make a deal to secure Pick 25 under the assumption that we'd take it, again, shows a lack of engagement. GW has shown that he's open, fair and honest - when he targets a player, he gets the deal done with a minimum of fuss. Sadly, it seems that Mackie has shown none of those traits and capabilities in these negotiations. It's not so much a situation of walking Ollie to the PSD and we get nothing, rather, come the closure of Trade Period it's a new set of negotiations, one that won't include Mackie.

"OLLIE Henry is prepared to enter the draft if a deal can't be struck between Collingwood and Geelong by Wednesday night's trade deadline.

At this stage, the Magpies won't accept pick No. 25 for the player they used pick No.17 on in the 2020 NAB AFL Draft.

It is understood that the 20-year-old isn't prepared to return to Collingwood and wants to get back to the area where he grew up and play football with his older brother Jack."

Dogs' draft stand remains, Hawks star weighs future, talks for Freo talls continue - Dogs' draft stand remains, Hawks star weighs future, talks for Freo talls continue

I hope he gets picked up by West Coast

You wouldn’t put him in our top 5 players right now if he was fit? Lol.
Grundy wasn’t top 5 in our best and fairest in 2020 and he wasn’t in 2021 either. His 2022 form was less impressive than the two seasons that came before it. Grundy wouldn’t be in our top 5 players anymore.
