I am a little confused with the list numbers.

We've only opened up 5 so far - so we can only take 5 picks with points into the draft.

Currently, that's 27, 36, 46, 48 & 55. We can't use 58 as it stands.

So on draft night, if Daicos is bid on with Pick 4 and we use our time to match to trade out pick 27 into next year's draft - does Pick 58 then become usable for points again?

If this is our strategy, we need to be doubly sure that Nth aren't going to screw us, or GWS decide they will trade pick 2. We'll be left 350 points short of pick 1 if we can't use 58.

Personally, I'd be delisting Magden as well to open up the 6th spot. We can always sign him up again afterwards if he's the best option available at that point.

Should delist will Kelly

Can't get on the park

And what’s the point of keeping a depth player who struggles in the twos?
You remember how Grundy missed a few games this year? And you remember how the guy that came in to replace him is now at the Hawks?

That situation.

If you cannot see the importance of depth, then I'm not sure what to say to you.

Or we could not delist a contracted player.

I'd delist a contracted Murphy if opening up a list spot benefits us. If someone else takes him - good luck to them and him, if no-one else takes him, just re-add him as an SPS signing for cap purposes.

If North dont bid on Daicos, could we try swap next years 1st Round and 27, for GWS pick 2?
Get the Dogs to bid on Darcy at 2. Draft another player for pick 3, and Daicos makes it to minimum pick 4. The Dogs bidding on Darcy will get our picks in the 40's and 50's to move up a few spots and increase our points to cover pick 4.

Why do the Giants do this?

Has it been clarified to the club that we can put Keane on Cat B to open up the required 6th spot? If not then you would think someone else has to go.

I'm guessing that we'll be able to nominate Keane as our second Cat B rookie which will open up the extra Cat A spot, as I'm sure he's still eligible under the rules for Cat B rookies, given the concession the AFL gave for all rookies this year and that Tohill is now off the list. This will take us down to 32-4-2 with 6 senior list spots available.

We are still short 185 points though even with the picks we have in hand, so I suspect we'll see some further moves either shuffling draft picks around via trades to boost the value of our hand past 2400 points, or perhaps another delisting / redrafting arrangement to open up another spot, coupled with a splitting of one of our earlier picks (maybe pick 36?).

It's an option, but I don't think we'd get away with signing him in the SSP, it would have to be at the back end of the ND (or PSD) and we'd probably have to extend him for another year (ie. until 2023) to get him to agree. We can't just delist a contracted player without their explicit agreement, so the carrot would have to be dangled for the player and their manager to even consider it.

so Madgen survives?
Has that been confirmed anywhere that his contract has been extended? I have so far only seen confirmations that Rantall, Sier and Thomas have been let go and we are trying re-sign Cox. The first list lodgement is not for another fortnight so unless he has been confirmed as being extended then it's possible that he may not be.

is this confirmed, or is it just nothing has been said ?

I don't believe anything has been said, but most of our other OOC players have been told. It's also possible he's been told it's dependent on our position on further pick swaps etc becoming clear.

I'm pretty sure you can delist without consent - but you'd have to pay the contract still, unless there was a breach, and thus the contract would still count towards TPP. So if you added him back to the list later, it'd still be the same contract. Basically I think the contracts and the lists are seperate issues. Definitely could be wrong though.

squads win flags not best 22. Madge is a handy cheap option to have on the list. He’s no superstar but he can play a role at times.

You're not wrong....he was Nathan's #1 name on team sheet.
He was unbelievable as a forward when moved there and we needed firepower.
He was even better when he became our wingman to add some more strength to our on ball brigade.

Doesn't Madge have 1 year left on his contract? Probably why he ain't delisted.

Crunch year coming up for quite a few on our list, but especially the Brown bros and Will Kelly.
