I misunderstood. They can only do it after the national draft and before the rookie draft. So it doesn't help us in terms of senior list vacancies for the nd.

I'm trying to understand why a club would want to do it after the national draft and before the rookie draft? I suppose it means all clubs will maximise cap benefits of having maximum number of rookies?
Yep, I'm not sure myself!

He's very one paced, not great hands and I doubt he gets picked up but that's just my opinion
He's apparently had pretty significant interest from clubs (my brother is one of his close mates), so I'm going with that. I think it's been over a decade since the last Fothergill-Round-Mitchell medalist didn't get picked up

Brander doesn't smell right to me. He is either too versatile and is good at no position, or there is something fishy going on. My thinking is that we don't realise it just yet but Brander = Madgen.

I'd go watch some actual tape of Brander if I were you before jumping to any conclusions like that.

If he slips to 3, I reckon we trade 36 and 38 to StK for 59 (comes in with the Darcy bid match) and a F2. 40+43+45+51+54+59 would be enough to match Pick 3.

Would only leave back end picks for 2021, but F1/F2/3xF3 to work with

I’m not seeing St Kilda doing that with Owens and Windhager potentially receiving bids in the 2nd round. The thinking’s sound though so perhaps Essendon with 56 and a future 2nd.

Curious, where do you get your hands on actual tape these days and a machine to play it on?

Did that already. Took a few grabs over flat footed opponents. Ran off a few slow guys. Pin pointed a few kicks into the forward 50. The highlights look good. Maybe West Coast coaching and development have no idea. But it was nothing compared to this:

That's why I suggested the Saints though. No idea where those two bids will come in but surely 36 and 38 will go close to allowing them to match?

Delisted 5 months later but the article hints that they had no idea where to play him

Has all the attributes.., size, mobility, run, endurance, good below knees

Probably makes an excellent shut down full back

Can’t see the problem trying him out for free for 12 months considering it’s a crap shoot whether similar sized Keane, Kelly, McMahon, or Begg actually make it... or are all delisted by 2024

At 23 he fits the age profile for our rebuild.

I think I was listening to Branders manager talking about him on trade radio being not big enough to play as a KPD. He was talking about him being picked up as a 3rd tall. That was a little strange to me. It almost tells you that he can't play as a KP. I think the reason he was delisted was because he was not strong or aggressive enough to play KP and he didn't get enough possession to play as a wingman at least at the eagles.

Yeah, I'm confident they go for Darcy first. GWS do not like the Bulldogs.

Still can't see them bypassing Daicos altogether, though there appears to be some doubt from journos about this. Would be nice if it happened.

If GWS bid on Darcy and then Daicos we can match the bid without using pick 36, so we could find a deal with someone to get us more next year.

The "doubt from journos" actually came from someone at GWS during a trade radio interview, in which they said they'd be more likely to bid on Darcy as he's more of a list need than Daicos would be as (another) small midfielder.

Gonna play this one with a straight bat.

Tape has now transcended the physical and moved into the ether.

To find it now you need this thing called the internet, you can use that Google search thing to find it, and to watch it you need a computing device with a screen and, optionally, speakers if you want to listen to the peppy background music while you watch.

The “list need” stuff is pointless though as they know they’re not getting either of the players.

I think they’ll go for Darcy first, mainly because it‘s in their best interests in the short term to make the Dogs pay as much as possible, plus they don’t like them very much.

I just reckon they’ll bid on Daicos after that and he won’t slide to #4. But I’ll be glad if he does.

By my count that pick could possibly come into the 40’s and their other two into the mid 50’s post Daicos and Darcy bids. I think they’d probably prefer that over giving their future 2nd for two picks that will just get churned up with bids.

He’s a bit on the lean side to be used in a KPD post most likely because the Eagles built him up as a wingman. Anyone bringing him in to play on a wing is wasting their time because like WHE he’s a marking winger and despite being a decent user by foot he doesn’t find enough of it at ground level. I wouldn’t go there as a 3rd tall, but for some reason he’s the buzz on here. I assume it’s because most have a limited viewing of him and it’s on the basis of his size and draft spot…

I think you take/bid best available at that end of the draft. Unless they rate Darcy and Daicos equal.
