Yep JDG looks like leaving. We go hard at Taranto as a replacement. We then look at keeping JDG and maybe look at getting Grundy out to fit them both in. Taranto wants Richmond. Now the question is what happens with Grundy.
I personally think Grundy is separate, I think he’s currently about a 10% chance of being here next year. And that’s probably being generous

Grundy is removing salary off the books to target some players. For example, I’m not huge on Bruhn and it depends what you think of our list (I think it’s shallow) there’s a pretty handy footballer who’s out of contract at North Melbourne next year who would be perfect for us. They may have Clarkson, but when you’ve won 17 games in 5 years, you may not want to wait another 5 to try get some success

Around the boards Collingwood Focus 26/08:

30 pages added to this thread since my previous post

Adelaide: Beleive Frampton to us, Grundy to Geelong.
Brisbane: McStay to us. Pies 3rd rounders for F&S points.
Carlton: Want Grundy but no cap available.
Essendon: De Goey talk. Want Henry no details just because he is OOC.
Fremantle: Want Henry / Johnson but no trade currency.
Geelong: Want Grundy first and Henry if possible.
Gold Coast: Grundy to Geelong
GWS: Hill to us,
Hawthorn: Grundy talk.
Melbourne: Want Grundy but think will go to Geelong, want Henry.
North:
Power: Want Henry no details just because he is OOC. Don't want Grundy (Melbourne hipster) believe cats or dees.
Richmond: They think we want Treloar back. Taranto is theirs apparently. Grundy not to GWS therefore no Taranto. Had to leavce their board as there was just so much anti Collingwood stuff I found it hard to find real trade rumours.
St Kilda: Offered De Goey more $ and duration than us.
Sydney: Geelong to get Grundy and Taranto, where is the COLA?
Bulldogs: Want Henry.
West Coast:

Anyway that what other clubs posters are talking about.
Even if half this stuff is true about Henry, then no wonder the Club is so far apart with his management, in terms of salary expectations.

I'd like us to consider Charlie Constable. Uncontracted and unrestricted free Agent if GC Suns don't offer him another contract. A cheap and useful inside mid with some talent.

Getting Mcstay in unless it’s for a back roll and losing Henry is so stupid

A lot more upside with Henry
End of the day if he wants to go he’ll go, I’m sure we would match the Cats offer and then some, if he does go we need more than their first DP, I would want next years as well considering both picks will likely be around the 20 mark, with our second going to them.

He’s now failed at 2 Clubs, so why are you confident he can make it with us.
Isn’t Fiorini a better option ?

Trade wise - we should not have to cough up much for Bobby Hill. Maybe a future third or thereabouts would be his value due to form and health issues
So doubt his acquisition would have anything to do with Taranto despite what Tom Browne says

Yeah surely just one of our 3 3rd rounders

Carlton delisted newnes, Oscar McDonald and Luke parks

Or another media beat-up by a player manager. Since our reported interest he has received a revised 4 year offer from GWS.

Who knows? Maybe as was initially reported Tigers were always the front runner.

Maybe reports of JDG staying are true and the $$$ previously allocated from JDG going for a Taranto trade are no longer available

Beeg has already confirmed JDG re-signing.

Tom Browne saying we have cooled on Taranto and putting our energy into Bobby Hill, so we probably end up with him now
I don't know why Hill requires energy given he was fine coming to us last year until we pulled out and he's basically been a done deal to us all year. Like we're expending energy on a player that doesn't need anymore convincing to come to us. FMD.

Keep in mind this is Tom Browne's description of the situation. It's more likely his awkward wording of it rather than an accurate summation of how much energy we are putting into something.

If Taranto is not interested we should go after Narkle, Fiorini or Stocker who is playing in the back line but his preferred postion is midfield. They would all add something, feel like Stocker would be the biggest risk but he is only 22. Narkle for me personally, not only midfield but can impact forward as well. In a tough team to crack and a FA.

Narkle and Hill would be great, wouldn't have to give up much.

Looks like Geelong may be getting Bailey Scott from north.
