I am a little confused with the list numbers.

We've only opened up 5 so far - so we can only take 5 picks with points into the draft.

Currently, that's 27, 36, 46, 48 & 55. We can't use 58 as it stands.

So on draft night, if Daicos is bid on with Pick 4 and we use our time to match to trade out pick 27 into next year's draft - does Pick 58 then become usable for points again?

If this is our strategy, we need to be doubly sure that Nth aren't going to screw us, or GWS decide they will trade pick 2. We'll be left 350 points short of pick 1 if we can't use 58.

Personally, I'd be delisting Magden as well to open up the 6th spot. We can always sign him up again afterwards if he's the best option available at that point.

They probably haven't flucked up while you weren't looking

So based on current list spots I can't see us splitting 27 for two later picks this year. Would have to be one later one this year and a future pick or two futures (depending on where ND bid comes).

As I've previously stated I'd be seeing if we can do a swap with the Eagles; 27 & 36 for 29 and their future 2nd.
Eagles looking wobbly for '22 makes it one to look at closely.

How many picks will Richmond take to the draft?
27 for their 38/40 and F2?

Gives them 7, 15, 26,27,28 and 40 which will come in a couple of spots after bids.

They have their 2022 2nd rounder and North’s
That would work as well but we would need to find another list spot

Knightmare thoughts on eggmolesse-smith as a DFA?

He can use it out of defence but I'm not seeing him as a best-22 player which at age 23 he needs to be.

There are some good delisted players coming available though. It's a market I would explore and certainly endorse discussing some of the names delisted last year and this year.

Once daicos gets bid on, we have to trade it, or being our first pick it gets used first as points for him. If daicos slides to pick 28, happy days 😃
We can trade pick 27 to 2022 if Daicos not bid in first 2 picks, and then have the option to trade it back in to 2021 after matching the bid if we wish

Who would you recommend given our list weaknesses? It's rumoured that we will pick up Naish.

Boyd Woodcock delisted at Port any interest there? Lively indigenous small fwd. Has shown glimpses, still young (21) and tough team to break into at Port.

Lienert surprisingly delisted too.

Think the plan would be pre draft to get 41 from Brisbane for Hawks future 3rd we have . Then trade out 55 for a future 3rd , this covers 2400 just in case the bid at 1 comes. Then ideally if Daicos does not get called out in the first 2 do the Saints trade.

Sounds good for us but who’s giving us a future third for pick 55?

Blake Schlensog and Sam Skinner, both of whom were delisted last year I'd aggressively pursue.

Delisted last year and again this year, Marty Gleeson I continue to like. Essendon have underutilised him in recent years. He's for me an any team best-22 player, or at least should be given he intercepts, uses it well and wins his 1v1s.

Of those newly delisted. Tom Lynch I would have loved and North Melbourne would be wise to secure him as not just a coach, but as an active player as he still has more good football left.

Charlie Constable through the midfield I'd consider. He has starred in the VFL but lacked opportunity at AFL level.

Biggy Nyuon Richmond are too quick to give up on. I'd rookie him in a hurry. He was better in his draft year than Aliir Aliir was, and plays that same style of game in defence.

Jarrod Cameron I'd talk to. He has had his injuries which is why he wanted out of his West Coast contract, but he's one of those where if he got his body right, he's seriously talented and could be that crumbing forward answer. He'd as with Nyuon be a perfect rookie candidate.

On Naish, and I've heard similar suggestions around Lachie O'Brien also, I don't see the need. Collingwood are good on the outside. Naish as with O'Brien are depth guys and not best-22 calibre, or at their ages likely to develop into best-22 calibre pieces. There are state leaguers at that same age who are much better footballers. Both of them respectively are entirely too outside an allergic to winning their own ball.

What Collingwood need is other than key position upgrades at either end, is genuine ball winners. Collingwood's midfield is soft and filled with finesse types. That needs to change and I'd like to see not only a star midfielder added in the future, but also a big bodied first possession winner - think your Tom Green archetype. A crumbing forward would be nice as Collingwood have a lot of marking types, but nothing much in the way of ground level guys and forward pressure. I'd be fine with another good general defender - though I want them ticking more than just one box (eg. Noble I'm not at all a fan of as you can't just be an outside accumulator. There has to be some kind of intercepting and 1v1 component to be able in defence, or if playing up on a wing, some kind of contested component to be consistent).

That would be a pretty good deal but it would leave pick 58 as excess and the Eagles are one favourable draw away from playing finals again which would kill the deal a bit for us.

Ideally we'd get our hands on a really attractive R2 pick from a team likely to finish bottom 8, so that we could trade that back into the early-to-mid second round this year if we identify an opportunity to grab someone we really like that fills a list need now (such as one of the WA KPP's).

Constable would provide a bit of inside support for Tay Adams, which we need. Sier was supposed to be that. Then delist Noble & replace him with Gleeson.

10/10 on Noble.

How much of what you see with Noble.. is taught.. how much of it is natural? Just looks like a bloke who needs to be spoon-fed. Offer him advice.. he takes it as gospel. Manufactured. There's just nothing there. A bloke that's really out of his league.

Young mids don’t have the physical preparation to play 22 games.
Sidey Pendles getting older - Sier Rantall JT off the midfield roster.
So mid field looks light.

I think Crisp and Maynard may be spending more time in the midfield or Constable or similar mid is on the radar.
Both have pace and can kick long
