No, no just pointing out that the only people affected by a lower turnout is the catering, rip off companies. Watered down mid strength and overpriced greasy food.

All clubs have bandwagon supporters and a rusted on hard core element, although for a team that screams constantly about being the no 1 club in Australia in regards to how professional they are and how many members they have, under 20k on a Friday night is very average to say the least.
If 20,320 is less than 20K, do Fremantle have less than 0 premierships?

Simple science will tell you that it's really not

You times the temperature you think it was (2 degrees) and the crowd it actually was by a multiple of 3 each and you get 6 degrees (which is what it was) and 60k. Please explain your scientific reasoning behind thinking they are not the same

And even the crowd was divided by 3 instead of multiplied by 3 it would be around 6.7k anyway

I went, but 20k to watch a home-side thats playing abysmal football, and an interstate side thats as far away from Melbourne as any in the competition, is not to be totally unexpected.

It was f**king 2 degrees, as well.

Collingwood attendances are still the highest in the league, I've enjoyed reading the potshots, genuinely funny stuff.

Because 0 degrees in Celsius is an arbitrary measure. 6 degrees is not 3 times warmer than 2 degrees. The temperature scale should really start at absolute 0 which is -273 degrees Celsius, but 0 is where it is for convenience. 20 degrees is not infinitely warmer than 0 degrees.

It was reported that 20k turned up

Do you think there were no Freo supporters in attendance ?

You peahearts crack me up, so defensive over a non issue,

Since when did we start crowds according only to one teams supporters?

Do you still maintain that 20 thousand out of the reported 20,320 were the Carringbush faithfull ?

Please explain this using your celsius method, I'm all ears :D

Just admit it, you blokes dont turn up when it gets a little nippy

I'm looking forward to reasing about the peppy la pew method of crowd calculations minusing estimated numbers of opposition supporters ;)

I will say your celsius method is far too intelligent for me to grasp, but my simple method of 20,320 less say 3,000 Freo lunatics will equal to about 17,000 Collingwood diehards

No head scratching the me old Mateyman :D

Hopefully we meet again in September* next year and the sun is out

*who am I kidding

Thought I'd pop back to see what's happening, not much - Freo supporters still struggling to score points - just like Freo.

Seriously, how pathetic are the Freo supporters on this thread?

Unable to talk about the game (on a game thread) because their side is so pathetic, they have to seek diversion by bringing up crowd numbers and the weather.

If you're so interested in the weather watch the weather channel or look at the Bureau of Meteorology website.
Would still be better than watching a Freo game.:D

Oh and if you are so interested in crowd stats then you will notice the Pies still head the attendance figures for the season, even with a low attendance at this game.

(A few interesting stats i suppose, coldest day in Melbourne for 18 years, lowest MCG home game attendance by the pies since the 40's (although most home games were at Vic Park not the G), playing a side who ad the most dramatic fall in AFL history from finishing on top of the ladder last season to losing the first 10 in a row the following year.)

Facts are no-one likes your style of play or your pathetic efforts. Why should anyone go to watch any game your side plays?
I suppose the purple cult of Ross will religiously attend Freo games until he achieves his nirvana game - a nil all draw in an AFL game.

No need for Freo to wear their little purple panties this season as they lay down and spread their cheeks ready to take another reaming.
So much so that even the commentators were saying Pav has a nice ass. :p

Hope you guys are watching the Saints game tonight. Much better than the Ross Lyon rope-a-dope.
Entertaining game - win or lose.
Glad Lyon is not in charge of this team, they would still be playing his boring gameplan.
Like I said Lyon is a cancer on the game.

Wonderful attempt by Freo supporters to derail the actually facts of the game.
Crowd or no crowd I was there watching. Fremantle are the most insipid soft side I have ever seen. Their attack on the ball was putrid, their skills a disgrace and they were beaten by a far better side who was extremely under manned. No wonder they have never won a Premiership and I doubt they ever will. They are WAFL at best. There is only one Western Australian team and the second rate club that is dished up in Western Australia is nothing short of embarrassing. Thank god for the Eagles or football would be dead in WA.

I think Freo has dropped the ball now. Its play out the year and see what we can learn and change . That's Ross Lyons job now. A not so in form Collingwood got them well and truly on Friday night. But they are a bit above WAFL standard, and the Eagles have a hard time winning away. Its the ebb and flow of footy form, unfortunately the bad times last much longer these days because the playing pool has been diluted and the new clubs especially GWS have been loaded up with super artillery and some traditional clubs will fall over for a hell of a long time or forever , I'm thinking now that , that is actually the plan.

When Dim couldn't move North to the GC and Footscray to Western Sydney , the "create a new club" idea came about , and bingo.... we'll bleed the lower moneyed Melbourne clubs to death. For the future and for keeping AFL in the money?? I'd suggest that is an idea that will backfire.

Lose two, three clubs out of Melbourne and life long supporters stop supporting, and that means they stop spending money on footy.

When you watch the game now with every minute or so a scrum like mass of bodies in one place, well its definitely a different looking game these days, and could that be a way to entice NSW people or Queenslanders to enjoy it more , with a taste of rugby in it.

The thing I'm talking about when I say those things is , if you look at a perfect place to develop Aussie footy, WA is a traditional Aussie rules city, I'm a Vic BUT THESE SANDGROPERS, ARE FOOTBALL CRAZY HERE. They should easily carry two powerhouse teams here, and they did but look at whats happened over the last 5 years, also rans Freo , and now a big club the Eagles can't win in the east. And they struggle to keep ahead at the moment.

And when you see a nearly, but not quite get there ,club, fall over, like Freo have this year, and there are foregone conclusion games every week, you have to say TOO MANY TEAMS.
