If f***en Cochrane is named in our side then i will be missing from a Power game at football park for the first time. The selection of Cochrane would illustrate to me that the club has absolutley no faith in our young players, that we longer have a standard of skill required to make the grade and that we do not pick our side based on performance.
Ins: Thomson, White, Gilham/Kingsley/shattock/symes
outs: Salopek, Wilson, Cochrane

Cochrane will not win us the game this week.At the same time neither would Adam Thomson or Ezard, but we will benefit far more from playing one of the young lads.
I hope Im at the gorund this week.

You'll be away from Footy Park then. With an injury to Salopek and James not returning, there's no way 'Mr. Conservative' will punt on the future instead of giving his gold pass king another go.

We won't know at 5.30 whether we'll win on the weekend, but we will know if we are going to make a serious run at the eight.

While I think Cochrane should be dropped, I hardly see how missing out on the game will help.

I was getting carried away, ill be at the game either way, but it would be nice to turn up knowing that the selectors have picked the best 22 players and that they are all capable.
What message does the selection of cochrane send to the other players?? Im sure they are aware of his capabilities or lack of.

So in other words, you've got as much conviction behind your threat not to show, as Choco does in his claim that he'll stop picking players on reputation.

Exactly!

Going on his bagability on this site, you could hardly say Cochrane gets picked on his reputation. Everyone thinks hes crap. I guess someone has to take up the slack now everyones favourite bagboy Schoey has gone back west.

Hope you do drop him myself, as we now need a replacement for Surjan at the Ponderosa.

Well I won't be at the game. Nothing to do with how the team's going tho. There's NO way he will be dropped this week. Maybe once Burgers, James and Kingsley come back, amongst others.

Exactly. Cochrane will play. His gold pass still has some mileage yet!

You mean you're going to drop him to the reserves? We probably won't enforce the SANFL regulations in his case. You're stuck with him! ;)

Cochrane will play (the argument will be that he will tag McPhee) and Shattock and possibly Kingsley will come in for Wilson and Salopek. Our side will look boring and impotent again with Shattock, Cochrane, Mahoney and Kingsley all questionable and probably undeserving inclusions.

We will score no more than 10 goals and this time next week someone will probably start a similar thread again. Never mind.......life goes on :(

You could try this one too.....

Been reading too many Collingwood threads ... ;)

Who's taking bets on how many "clangers" we make for the game?

The clanger count and the inability to carry the ball or handle it cleanly will be most noticeable I reckon. Fumble and clangers will be the order of the night.

FWIW I would rather they do play Cochrane on McPhee (if Cochrane is selected) rather than Kane Cornes. The decision to play Cornes on McPhee last year backfired badly as it has on other occasions when Kane has been asked to run with a player outside the centresquare (Nick Stevens in second half of round 4 game and Ling in second half of round 5 game this year). We need Kane winning the ball because if he doesn't then I can't see anyone else doing it.

Conservative again! How can Mark tell the players to take a risk when he doesn't take a risk himself?

The only reason that I can see for Pettigrew out, Cochrane retained and the older players in is that it will be wet, and therefore a tougher game, which will not help the youngsters at this stage of their development.

With all the heat Cochrane's taking, Thurstans and Francou seem to have slipped under the radar.

Just hope Damon White has a blinder.

Rucci wrote the same thing about Neil Craig this morning. Looks like it's infected both teams.

Or Rucci is projecting our flaws on the Crows. The Crows already are doing pretty well...frankly if Mark Stevens was on our list, he'd be being carried in the 22!
