Playing them under done would probably be more damaging to their development than not playing them at all.

Jeremy does not jump at the ruckman and does not win the hit-out but he read the play and becomes an on-baller, often sharking his opponent tap running into the forward line. So, someone else has to be our second ruck at the bounce where we need to protect Charlie's glass ankles.

They have two top ruckmen: ideal time to play Sweet plus the season is young (early April) and we need a form guide.
Coaches need to be prepared for any Soldo injuries where hopefully they can apply some lessons learned from mis-managing Scooter last year where they squeezed him literally into the ground.

When we limped into last September, Scooter could barely walk let alone jump off the ground.

If Sweet had anything of use to offer as a second ruck/third forward he wouldn't have played zero, count em, zero games last year despite being the best ruckman in the VFL all season. They tried it twice the year before, he averaged 6 touches, 12 hitouts and 1 mark in those two games while scoring 0.0.

Finnlayson is 90% forward- 10% ruck. I agree it's nuts how many people focus on the 10% component. And as has been pointed out in this thread when he is in the ruck he doesn't actually ruck (as in jump and contest the ball up/bounce) anyway. Finnlyason's time in the ruck could really be covered by another player on the park. Heck McEntee could stand in the middle and not jump for the ruck.

So the argument for Sweet is really for Sweet or Soldo to replace Finnlayson as forward. Makes absolutely no sense on a player v player analysis. Also another lumbering immobile forward next to Dixon is possibly the most self-defeating thing we could do - so you never know it might just be what happens.

You act like you dont care but youre probably the most negative, passionate poster on the forum. Go outside for a walk or a dart or pick up painting or yoga with your spare time not watching or “caring” about games. It will do your blood pressure a world of good.

Jordan hasnt even put on the jumper for an afl game worth premiership points and hes already getting shit on for doing nothing at all. Literally nothing, just numbers hes thrown up in his past. Talking about numbers remember when all the talk about BZT was reverse coleman and now hes more than just a decent backman.

Second rucks tend to put up crap stats because its just a generally shit possy to play in general unless your a genuine forward first. Saw that with Gawn/Grundy, Lycett/Ryder and glimpses with Darcy/Jackson although Jackson has been in much better form and is learning more forward craft.

If he does get picked its not happy clapping its giving someone a chance at the level you never know what he can produce in a different environment with different teammates. A chance just one before you shit all over their name and want them banished to all eternity

Darcy's minutes are going to be restricted. I would rather play another player who can run instead of a lumbering ruckman in Sweet who offers nothing up forward when he would be resting.

Dunno about that. Lobbe + Ryder and Ryder + Lycett got trotted out a few times when all were healthy. We have a clear design to play with height at the moment, so wouldn't rule it out.

Ryder was more athletic than either Soldo or Sweet though that's the difference, if you play two you need one of them to be pretty mobile.

In some respects, sure. Still also worth pointing out in his single final for the club he had seven touches, no marks, and one behind. He may have dominated the HOs, but perma-injured Vardy and the long-retired ghost of Petrie smashed him around the ground and their aerial presence one of the key reasons we lost.

The games we lose by a lot are usually a sort of cascade.
It starts with our rucks getting owned, then our midfield, as good as it is, getting overwhelmed by all the traffic headed in the other direction.
Then with our midfield down, we can’t generate drive in any other part of the ground.

Freo’s midfield is good enough that if Darcy owns Soldo, we could find ourselves in big trouble like our finals last season.

Very Good midfield, very good defence, shit forward line with no connection to the others.

Therefore Port should win by a few at least imo

I would suggest that when you have a part time ruck on, you would want your best defence in play.

Better chance of defending it if it comes quickly out of the middle.

I felt like this a month ago but I don't see the point in living like this with that attitude for another 2 years. I actually enjoyed last weeks win , if nothing else I get more excitement in just seeing Butters, Rozee and JHF together.
