The media has been bagging north with there poor form against top 8 teams . It would be a great time now to start beating them ;-) . We hav'nt really been blown away by any of them and considering all the injuries we've done ok . Maybe cause for optimism:)

Does anyone know if journalists write their own headlines?

There is an article by Nick Bowen (who I've always thought was one of the better journalists) on both the NMFC and AFL websites. On the NMFC site the article is titled "Higgins feeling really good", but on the AFL site its titled "Higgins unsure he can bring his best to Crows clash".

It's the exact same article. Seems a pretty clear case of putting a negative spin on a North story for the AFL website. Just should not happen (but am so used to it).

Also, wtf is with the AFL website pumping up other teams, in this case the Bravehearts. There is an article on there atm which leads off by saying the Bulldogs talented young list is the envy of the competition because they're second on the list of Rising Star nominations over the last five seasons with only five fewer than the Giants. FFS!!! Using that logic surely that would mean the Giants' list is the envy of the competition!

Oh well, I guess that if being a media darling means you're a destination club for the likes of Cloke it's not all bad being hated by the media ;)

The Sub-Editors do the headlines as I understand it. The journos produce the copy and the subbies can also cut that to suit the headline they want.

Agreed.

Just surprised how much it's air time it's getting. Admittedly I only listen to SEN. They bring it up a lot.
They are licking their chops with this one. No matter what we do - daw plays, petrie plays or they both play the club will cop it from both media and fans. I almost hope Waite doesn't get up so its a non issue.

If Waite and Daw both play and both play well not much the media can say in criticism.

Apologies if this has been raised before but I was appalled by the gutter journalism by the Herald Sun with a story about Wayne Carey's ex partying with Chris Brown when he was arrested after a standoff with police in America. The only thing Carey had to do with the story was to have his name mentioned in the headline. I suppose there will be a story next about one of kindergarten teachers getting a parking ticket. This paper has plenty of hacks on their payroll but this plunged to new depths.

Say that again Luke Darcy just mentioned that Brad Scott would entertain an offer from Brisbane in regards to coaching them
May as well strike that off as a possibility then.

Bloke is a deadset vacuum.

Thinks that Mark Blicavs should tag Sam Mitchell.

Cos "something different".
