Yet every year they kick off the season with a 'blockbuster'. A blockbuster they hadn't won until this year since 2012 - against an opponent who were in the middle of their own 16 year finals win drought.

Yet all of these fixtures are rarely questioned, and certainly never challenged. Apparently drug cheats, tankers and salary cap cheats who have been part of long term mediocrity in recent history 'deserve' these games. I think if North stays the as the Good Friday game it should be against the Bulldogs but the game needs a bit of fine tuning.
For starters more entertainment before the game as pre game atmosphere was dead play the VFL before the game get the crowd in as the supporters from both clubs can donate more $$$$

Why are they putting 'Good Friday Football' on such a pedestal? Our match is not even the standalone event on the day anymore. Most of the country doesn't even celebrate the religious aspect of the day.

Honestly, the AFL is getting difficult enough to watch as it is without its preferential treatment for large clubs and blatant disregard for the smaller one.

Interesting that the McGuire comments supporting us to keep Good Friday were presented by Caro and Barrett as being "Sure, give it to them, we don't care about it" rather than "They've earned it".

Re the Good Friday Game, I was there and thought the atmosphere was fantastic. When Taylor ran down that bulldogs player in the pocket, the roof almost came off the stadium. If we'd won 3 out of our first 4 games leading into Good Friday , we would have had 45,000. They're not taking it off us. Hopefully next year a better start to the year and the crowd figure will grow. Would also be good to be competitive (which I believe another 20 odd games into our young guys will bring this)

And the flip side if they were still there would be the narrative that they have stayed there too long and the club needs fresh people.

(Barrett’s argument was the flip flopping on Scotts, Shaw and then Roos supporting Noble’s appointment but not being there to support Noble)
