I have listened to all of Sonja's radio interviews today, and of course she did brilliantly in them all, but her work on 3aw, crossing swords with Caro and Lethal, and easily taking the points was a thing of beauty, goodonya Sonja.
Agree! I heard all of them on the way to the game and she did so well, with the 3AW interview a definite highlight. On ya, Sonja!! :north:

Sonja on Crunchtime

Far better having the media saying good things about us, but jeez, the hypocrisy after the last week, listening to them all being so certain Clarko was off to Tullamarine.

Whateley, with his self-important, faux-intelligent, pompous sermons that he is always banging on with, usually retrospectively criticising someone with all the grandeur of an archbishop at a royal wedding, but with about as much substance as an over boiled cabbage.

Someone should turn it back on him;

"Gerard, is your position as highly paid expert on all thing related to sport, particularly AFL, even remotely tenable after the events of the last week? It was actually you that reported on the importance to Clarkson of things like a team-first attitude and of culture and loyalty. How anyone with a modicum of intelligence could then suggest he would end up at Tullamarine after their actions in the last week beggars belief. Yet somehow, despite clearly holding yourself in far higher regard than the average journalist, you allowed yourself be swept up with the mass media hysteria, totally ignore the most logical and obvious outcome and solemnly prophesise about the inevitable arrival of Clarkson at the Hangar, only to prove once and for all, that rather than being some sporting savant, blessing the masses with your pearls of wisdom, you are just a run of the mill hack that would have trouble identifying the part of your body you sit on from the part of your arm that bends."

Very well put and without recourse to slander too. Kudos.

Brilliantly written Roo202 ……please send that in to SEN daring them to read it out. Outstanding.

What an amazing operator she is - Leigh kept cracking in hard and she never went him. Just held her nerve and said what she believed. She speaks very well.
Dare say Leigh's not the first boring old fart with an opinion that she's had to deal with.

I think a lot in the AFL media underestimated Sonja because she is relatively new to the AFL and very new to the role of Club President but will have learnt fairly quickly that she is a very savvy, highly intelligent, highly motivated and focused person. She shows them respect whether they deserve it or not, all the while charming them, and perhaps scaring them a little with her intelligence, calmness and wit. You can hear it with Matthews comments in the 3AW interview where he was trying to backtrack a little from earlier comments about the clubs list, and perhaps Whately has learnt that lesson as well. I'm not defending Whately, I just think he, along with a lot of other people in media are beginning to realize that someone who doesn't follow the "öld boy rules" has taken the reigns at NMFC and you underestimate her at your peril.

If you listen at the end of the 3AW interview, Matthews sounds very genuine in showing his appreciation of how Sonja handled herself. I really think he was impressed.

What a fuggin idiot. It was Member Appreciation Round you miserable dipshyte. "Sorry, we're not going to appreciate you because we lost again." Seriously, after whinging that Collingwood smile too much after winning, I seriously suspect this peanut hates humans.

I suspect he has also come to remember her father and that has put the fear of god into him.

Anyone who managed to get down to the fence will tell you that the boys were all actually saying thank you to the supporters for coming to the game. They were literally saying that. I don't doubt that the leaders told them to do that.

Absolutely, agree with all of it, Sonja has and will continue to be remarkable and I'm sure surprised many with what she has been able to make happen.

I'm just so sick of the status quo of the media.

Firstly, in all jumping straight on the * bandwagon, small club wants something, but now a big club wants it too, the entitlement of the big clubs, that is always championed by the media does my head in.

Secondly, the absolute lack of accountability of the media for their predictions and opinions. They themselves are always so harsh in their judgements, which are usually with the benefit of hindsight, but never hold themselves and their predictions to the same standards. Would have been nice, while praising our big coup and talking it up, a few of them could have also put their hands up and said, "you know what, we read this one totally wrong, we missed it completely, sorry."

Also, Kane Cornes is just a total goose, Mr "Dial-a-quote", who has one trick in his bag of taking as obnoxious a position as possible and then dining out the controversy and clicks it creates.

As if they'd be doing a lap of honour. Jesus, at least a quarter of the players yesterday a now worried they just found the name of they guy who's going to finish his career in the next few weeks.

It's so inconceivably stupid to even think such tripe, let alone get paid to say it BY THE AFL!!!!!!!

He is just sooking from Sonja hoods comments about him
That’s pretty much it. She embarrassed him and his employer. She said it, we broke the story with afl.com but imagine if it was done live on SEN.

Next sen board meeting gotta be interesting cause they all look like dickheads.

I have a really good mate in the AFL Media, played over 250 games for his club, his comment to me re Corn this morning:

"He was a shit bloke on field, and he's a shitter bloke off field....... I'd never have a beer with him! In fact, hardly anyone does!"
