Legitimate question (I hope): Other than a blanket term covering anything which doesn't equate to one's personal view of the way the world should be, what does woke actually mean? A lot of people seem to use it these days, so perhaps it might help if we all knew what it meant.

Our club captain comes from a culture that is alienated by Australia Day. Would you expect him to shut up or be able to speak his piece cos that's what he did.
Yeah. I do actually.

He's the Captain of the football club. Part of that means you don't divide the membership base by making political statements that are unrelated to football.

The country was divided the moment Jimbo stepped off the boat & I'm pretty sure Jai would have a laugh at some white fella telling him that he was the cause of division.

I would suggest that those who nominated and those who voted Jy as captain were well aware of his values and perspective. If his race, his views on life or his ethics are offensive to people then that's just their own bad luck. The next captain might be a raving right wing lunatic (Jy might even be that for all I care). People come and go. We don't all have to like any of the players or agree with their personal agendas. Even if we admire or idolised them, their time at the club is finite.

It's the same with other supporters. I know that the politics of some here on BF and some I meet up with at the footy are the polar opposite of my views. In those situations I interact in accordance with the personality instead of the politics.

The use of cutlery can be divisive... Eating pizza or tacos for instance!
Tacos are over rated rubbish. Big $$$s for corn chips that cut your gums and salad. Pizzas - culinary delight - and I use a knife and fork. Sometimes I do lower myself to the peasant class and use my hands when it is appropriate.

I was holding back but I'm going to go there.... KFC?
Refer my previous posts on said crap. I like the flavour but NEVER get a crunchy piece of chicken. I want the piece they use in the TV ads where that mouth with over whitened teeth bite into it and the crispy crumbs fly into the air in slow motion. When I get it from time to time it is soggy, crumbs already dropping off. Flavour is ok and it is better eating cold out of the fridge next day. I just want a crunchy piece is that too much to ask?

so the tribes before the first fleet never fought before the english...?

there is evidence to suggest there were pre-aboriginal cultures - where did they go i wonder? perhaps the aboriginals completely wiped out earlier cutlures...you you think this is acceptable? i'd put my left nut that at a minimum tribes wiped out other tribes.
