Players mentioned in this muppet's article:
George Wardlaw (pick from trading JHF)
Harry Sheezel (regular draft pick)
Jy Simpkin (regular draft pick)
LDU (regular draft pick)
Colby McKercher (regular draft pick)
Zane Duursma (FA comp pick)
Nick Larkey (regular draft pick)
Cam Zurhaar (rookie draft pick)

Literally none of these players have anything to do with the priority picks.

He'd have half a point if he was arguing that Logue, Tucker, Fisher, Stephens and W. Dawson have pushed us over the edge into contender status. But that would require actually doing some research, which is asking a bit much of this simpleton.
Technically Sheezel's pick was also traded for. We gave JHF and Pick 1, got back Picks 2 (Sheezel), 3 (Wardlaw), and Port's future 1st (Goad)

with Hodge talking about Coll v Brisbane game and the importance of leaders really needed to know when to shut the game down when things are getting out of control - I hope Lmac and Jy listen to that. He said it’s up to the leaders to know not to go for the handball out of the contest and allow free flowing footy when things are getting out of control, and try to slow it down.
While i was listening to that, the game where he belted Swallow, and Lewis kinghit Goldy came immediately to mind.

Wilkie: '..hundreds of thousands of Australians will watch the game not knowing that the game has been secretly manipulated by the AFL.'

Me: Hundreds of thousands of Australians haven't been paying attention.
What's been ****ing secret about it? It couldn't be more blatant that the AFL manipulate the game.

This is merely another layer.

Not that I'm condoning what Joel Smith did but he'd have to be pretty p*ssed off if he gets booted from the game knowing that the AFL has systematically ensured that numerous other players don't suffer the same fate of being caught on game day.

Yeah and I'm sure all they test for is illicit drugs (PLEASE BELIEVE US ASADA), and then I'm sure those players get a strike if they pop, and then I'm sure everyone is really happy that their lifestyle choices preventing them from playing are hidden behind a fake injury.

I'm also genuinely sick of hearing about how it's a societal issue and young men make mistakes yada yada. They're well paid athletes, or athletes who are supposed to be trying their hardest to be well paid. Suck it the **** up and if you have to do it then do it in the sodding offseason.

So based on that, the whole '3 strikes' policy only really catches players tested under an official WADA/SIA test where their clubs have been too lax in doing an 'in house' test to make sure they are clean leading up to games and can prevent them from playing before it gets to the point of a WADA/SIA test?

Sir Humphrey Appleby would be proud of this.

Docs can test players to see if players will test positive on match day.

Docs pull players with positive tests out of game so they won't test positive on match day.

Docs don't inform league of doping violation due to patient confidentiality.

The afl covers up players drug use because if caught on game day, they'd be suspended for months/years.
Take drugs during the week- fake a 1 week hammy or half until its out of the system.
Makes you wonder how many of those 'rumours' were true over the last few years.

Don't be fooled, if you give 18-25yr olds in peak physical condition $1000s every week, they'll be spending it somewhere.
People who are constantly on an adreline high need to get a fix somewhere.
