Less so Dustin Martin, but Andrew Gaff 100000000% had committed to us and then pulled out at the 11th hour and 59th minute.

This is a fact.
Punching Brayshaw ruined the deal, and Gaff’s career.

Scott’s final interview was before Hardwick’s and by then we’d pretty much made up our mind that Scott was our man to the point that we didn’t offer Hardwick the opportunity to present his game plan to the panel - the height of rudeness and a staggering level of incompetence and ineptitude even by our lofty standards.
* also f*d up with Hardwick………didn’t his power point preso not connect or something with them so they wiped him off the list. Something like that happened.

Happy to be corrected but am pretty sure at the time our plan was to get both Gaff and Polec, wasn't an either/or situation.

Yeh well it was either one proved to be shit at our club or shit at another club so in the end it was a lose/win situation

marnie cohenn -

Is she well known around bigfooty?

She has been popping up on my you tube quite a bit lately. And she’s also a part of the further north podcasts which I don’t really follow.

I feel like I’m late to the party with this?

She got some incredible content. I’ve recently watched in depth interviews with Eugene Arocca, Hugh Greenwood and our Captain Luke McDonald.

I recommend you watch them. The you tube channel is kanga tv I think.

Unashamedly one-eyed but well informed and knows how to create watchable content. Really loved the interview with Luke where he said he would rather be the whipping boy than let it happen to a young kid new to the club. Bleeds blue and white. Hope he gets back some form this year.

HAHAHAHA Those pretenders can ship off. Hashtag, further north..

I only care for Big Chief and his boy. They have much better and relatable content. They do a good job on the W too.

Get around em.

Pretty well known that Scott always presented well.

As for Hardwick, maybe we f'd up, but it did take quite major shakeup at Richmond (after he narrowly kept the job) before the tigers started contending.

The other story about the Hardwick / Scott decision was that Ron Joseph apparently made up his mind based on one question that he put to both of them - what would you do with Wayne Carey? Hardwick didn't have an answer because he hadn't thought about it. Scott said he would not welcome Carey to the club and specifically, his footy department in any sort of official or semi-official capacity. He had no interest in Wayne Carey.

For RJ, it wasn't that he agreed with Scott. It was more that Scott had taken the time to think about a matter important to North Melbourne and had a ready answer. Hardwick was unprepared.

Silly criteria though, including the fact Hardwick would've trained with and known Wayne.

When you consider that in our 150th year some of the stories about Scott and the inability of his to acknowledge past achievements of the club but having far more interest in running his own fiefdom the answer is actually pretty insightful in retrospect.

I thought his response was "Sh1t himself" then phone 3 friends for help.

Ron did things his own way.

But as an aside, Duck and Dimma were known to enjoy a good cuddle every now and again. Dimma sometimes brought some friends.

Still my favourite Carey photo - just summed up how good he was. Never took a backward step. There another where he is about to take a chest mark with about 3 or 4 players hanging on to the back of him.

Hardwick was tough as.

Hugely underrated footballer and I'm pretty confident with G Archer on one HB flank and Hardwick on the other, we would have went a long way to getting a third flag in the 90's.

No coincidence that Pagan took him to Essendon after we passed on him at the end of 1991.

Meh…..never thought he was anywhere near as touch as Archer. That * team were always tough “after the fact” IMO.
