Pretty well known that Scott always presented well.

As for Hardwick, maybe we f'd up, but it did take quite major shakeup at Richmond (after he narrowly kept the job) before the tigers started contending.
This is often forgotten.

There was a Saturday edition on 3AW which IIRC was the day after we beat Richmond in Hobart.

Caro was on and was laying in to the Tigers. Among other criticisms she said “Richmond ended up passing on Brad Scott.”

It took a flukish trade period and turnover of assistants before Hardwick finally pulled it together in 2017.

Yeah for sure. It's just interesting that the book was empathetic to women working at AFL HQ and critical of the blokey-blokes and so it could be considered "woke" in some respects yet he's now taking pot shots at the AFL for being too woke. I think there's validity in both angles and both points of view, but he might want to pick a lane.
One wonders how anyone could think an organisation run by the likes of McLachlan, Goyder, and Dillon could be considered radical left or woke.

The point of the article is the cynicism of how they choose social causes, and then the shit the rank and file are then supposed to swallow.

If you read the article Warner points out how the AFL sat on its own report that Clarkson and the others had no case to answer. That is worth a discussion.

Warner went very hard at Gill in Boys Club, particularly over the Lethlean stuff. Warner has a good radar IMO.

Based on what he writes, I think Warner is probably a complete nihilist.

Apparently it can be challenging to develop a strong moral framework when your parents are spies. It'd be kinda shitty having the old man come home and slowly learning he's not allowed to tell you anything about what he does all day.

The article was pretty poor scatter gun journalism. Bits that are valid with some rubbish click bait statements.

The AFL is famously accepting of all forms of media criticism 😬

After Warner went hard at the AFL last time he was put on the naughty step for a while and ended up interviewing the steps that injured Daniel Andrews.

Not sure about his clickbaitish use of ‘woke’ but he did once punch Slobbo in the Rose (when it was still a good pub) so swings and roundabouts I guess.

One thing re Marnie’s interview. Eugene said we are a Club of substance , some would argue the Dees hold that mantle lol.
But in all seriousness what f nn legend Eugene is, a real “Shinboner”.
Yeah true, and the mob from Tullamarine is a club of multiple substances. But without that Dean Wallis spreadsheet, nobody knows what substances.

Those articles are written with reference to an "appeal to teffy" bingo card.

This really is the greatest ever membership promotion put out by any club ever
I do hope that, when we begin to be successful in the next few years, we do a major overseas marketing push. Low budget and low cost overseas membership. The fact that we're the roos should be priceless for overseas marketing. And revisiting that ad won't hurt.

Biggest take here is that McLure is only 33, so we're stuck with him for another 30 yrs
Oh, Christ on a bike. I recently saw McLure described as a veteran, respected footy journalist.
I am starting to worry about the future of mankind.

McLure was correct about the Crows’ camp and copped a lot of shit before Adelaide admitted it.

I’m prepared to see where this goes.

Like all of these "journo" bottom feeders - McClure does occasionally get some inside info.
But also, like all of the bottom-feeders, he's happy to make his own story by guessing at outcomes and pretending its based on rock-solid info ... and then doubling down on it.

In this case, he said prior to the '23 draft that West Coast were no chance to pick Reid at no 1, and the North would get him at 2 ...

He has zero integrity, and knows that he can't lose. His profile goes up regardless, and no one in the industry is holding anyone to account.

Everyone on Bigfooty (sans WC supporters) thinks that Reid is a good chance to go home when the time comes. If McClure had anything real to add he would have done so. Instead, he's just boldly predicted what is more likely than not to happen. He is a true flog.
