Can someone who has a better grasp of AFL Club Financials explain simply whether our overall net profit of 50k is something to be impressed about?
Of course being in the black is better than being in the red, but with operating revenue of 50m, it seems incredibly small.

Also the operating profit before amortisation was close to 1m, what exactly is this money going toward? I thought we were debt free, or is the money going toward the new redevelopment?

North Melbourne has recorded another positive financial result, announcing a 13th consecutive profit for the 2024 financial year.

The club achieved an overall consolidated operating profit before amortisation of $961,280. The overall net profit was $51,013 for the financial year ending October 31.

Total revenue increased from $50.6m in 2023 to $53.4m in 2024.

Net assets of the club are $19.2m, the same as in 2023.

A number of factors contributed to the club’s profit, notably an increase in home-game attendance at Marvel Stadium.

Without seeing the P&L, my guess would be this is almost certainly the Arden St Precinct redvelopement being amortised. It's really the only large cap ex the club would have.

And as far as the club goes, to be breaking even in these dire times, with a net increase in home game attendance at Marvel when the team has statistically been the worst ever over a 5-year stretch is a huge win. The club has no other major objective than to continue to exist as far as finanicals go, so running net neutral (or therabouts) means they are squeezing ever last drop out of what money they do have. This points to a well-run organisation. The fact it is well-run without pokies is another key factor in why this result is so great.

No. Not impressive at all. However there was an increase in expenditures such as the salary caps. So its not too bad but still not good enough
