Stick to trying to win games of football NMFC. It’s by far the most important thing the club needs to do. Focus 1000% on that.

Another bottom 2 finish won’t sit well with a lot of fans, despite being “inclusive” and promoting “equality” and making Arden St a “safe place”.

Win games of footy. That’s all most fans care about.

Yeah if that happens your can come back to the Australia Day posts

No ... I'm saying the failure to get those aircraft leased in the light of the advice given and conditions on the East Coast at the time was an abysmal failure and worse than anything Albanese has done.

Especially because it was done on the basis of trying to virtue signal that climate change wasn't real. He ignored the advice of experts because he wanted to appeal to people who were wrong (ie factually incorrect) about something else and was scared that listening to those experts might send "the wrong" (ie factually correct) message to the rest of the population about that something else. As a result he made the worst natural disaster in Australian history worse than it needed to be.

That set of stupid decision making on its own is enough to make Scummo the worst PM we've had since Howard.

Out of curiosity, why did you go back to Howard when we have had some absolute stinkers on both sides in between?

Anyway, I’ve probably gone too far into the politics than what I intended anyway.

What are these rumblings that suddenly the new roofed stadium in Tassie isn't such a shoo in any more ?
Gonna be a hell hole to play in. You’ll need a team of thick skinned tough bastards to play every second week in frosty windy tassie conditions and there arent that many playing AFL.. the stadium needs a roof

I don't know any of the recent things but I have always thought it would face levels of opposition because:

the current population of Tasmania is 571200.

The current population of Hobart is 218000

The cost of the stadium (at it's cheapest) $775 Million (in reality it is probably going to be this + 50%)

If you work the cost out over all Tasmania it equals $1356 per person.

If you work it out just on Hobart it equals $3555 Per person.

There are only 5 federal seats in the whole of Tasmania.

long story short, It is an exceptional amount of investment for very few enduring jobs (post construction) for a small population that is not politically significant.

It may get built, it'll face hurdles all the way until it is.

It is an incredibly high barrier for entry that the AFL have set.

Spot on; and then there’s the appalling state of Tasmania’s health care system and a high proportion of the population being in the low socioeconomic bracket who need better welfare and housing support. This stadium could yet turn out to be the AFLs Eldorado

Each state has 12 senate seats, so they're disproportionately significant.

OK.

Still a pretty big price tag for senate votes.

will be interesting to see whether either party stumps up more cash through their election promises.

I honestly think that the barrier to entry was set so high because they don't want 19 teams, they want 18 teams and not being able to get a stadium up would create an impetus for Tasmania to take a relocated team.

Might be a bit tinfoil hat but I can see that as a play here.

strip bonuses from AFL big wigs to assist the funding. They dont need those ridiculous sums of money
drop in the ocean compared to the volume of money required to build a stadium.

Why cant the Tas team play between blundstone and UTaS?
Who knows.

I don't see why pumping $100m into each ground to upgrade them both wasn't the go to plan, it is significantly more affordable and feasible.

The reason I come back to is the AFL wanting a barrier to entry so high that they can use the failure to meet it as leverage.
