I don't see why you think we are going to be fair about the Meesen trade.
I personally would say 3rd round pick or nothing, and wouldn't really be that disappointed if we missed him in the PSD.
On Johnstone I don't really want to lose him. He is worth far more to us than he would be worth in a trade.

On potential, I think McLean could be the best player and leader. Bruce is the most versatile and biggest match winner of the lot. Johnstone is the most talented. McDonald is the most reliable and consistant (and the best, right now). Jones will be a great player for us.

I agree we would need to throw in a pick, but can't see it being more than a 2nd rounder + Meesen.

Why not just Messen for 37 or Adelaide can have nothing, if he was that good then why aren't all the other clubs crawling over him. Either he's crap or we have offered him a deal he really wants ie. 3 years on good pay.

It would be irresponsible for us to make that trade (even if you threw in a 2nd rounder) when we can get Meesen for nothing.
If it was your first rounder, and Bailey really wanted Johnstone gone, then maybe.

in dollar figures what woul TJ's contract be?
I think Melbourne are probably expecting to much for a trade with him......which is good for us because maybe that means we get to keep him!

i wouldnt think he would be on much more than 300k maybe 350k tops Green and Bruce would be on more money than TJ. Remeber Bruce just signed a new deal at the start of the season. Would have been worth at least 350k to 400k a season. what a waste

Read my mind. Hopefully with somewhat of a cleanout in the front office these sorts of stupid decisions will not be made as often. That is, if you're right about him being on 350-400.

I don't want to lose Trav but I wouldn't turn down a very good trade. I'd rather just stick with trading a couple of not-needed players like Miller and CJ for hopefully some picks and Ryan Murphy. Picking up a couple of draft picks would be handy too.

There both still under contract but Bailey has declared them open on the market. In all honesty it seems like he's going rebuild the side but were lucky in that we have a talneted young list laready so it won't matter

I also think we should be careful with Travis, maybe we are never going to see 100% and we should accept that its better to push him for 90% than to ruin him by publicly bagging him. Very difficult line to tread for a coach, hence why Bailey would rather him not there at all.

Miller has the potential to be a very good player, the only thing holding his back in his career so far was Daniher throwing him all over the park and then dropping him to Sandy when he didn't perform every game.
With an extended run in the team, who knows what Miller could do?

TJ is contracted for next year, don't know about Carroll.

from a distant observer, you're spot-on...miller has been dudded for two years, being switched all over the park, but i thought he started to show som good form again in the second half of 07....so, can we just agree that you guys will send miller to the swans for jude

the reason miller hasn't played in one position is because he hasn't performed consistently anywhere... Daniher was simply trying to find his best position in our starting 22 and its not as if he was tried everywhere, just CHB and CHF. the only good games he had down back were against Hall and when he played forward he performed spasmodically, he would be quite for a month and then in one half take 13 marks and kick 4 goals showing this 'potential' we all know he has got. Quite frustrating TBH.
As for the bolton/miller trade im all for it... massive bargain for us as i see it
