Have just been told and I don't believe it that on the news today, it was said that if the carlton give WCE picks 3 and 20, they are then going to trade pick 20 for Travis Johnstone. Anyone herad anything like this as I think that they are full of it.

Mentioned on 3aw that a 3 way deal between Melbourne Collingwood and the Lions would result in him going to Brisbane. They seemed pretty sure this would happen sometime tomorrow.

Keep in mind nothing has happened as of yet. It's not as though the media sits in on the deals and reports back, they just get dribs and drabs from the coaches as they're going to and from the joint. At this point in time it's all speculation and innuendo. Nothing to worry about

Melbourne were looking at trading senior players with market value. I know this because I am good friends with one of our recruiters.
They will not trade leadership group players though and this rules out players like Green, Bruce ext. Which leaves Johnstone as the perfect player to trade.

Wished it wouldnt happen though as he is one of our A graders.
Bailey trades him and I think hes a knob

Anyone who list their club as Freo is a knob, you have to make the tough decisions and if the trade is there then Bailey has to trade TJ.

Depreciation mate, theres no way that TJ is worth anywhere near number 1 these days. If we are going to lose TJ, pick 14 is good compensation. He's 28 and not going to get us to a premiership off his boot. He's handy to have around, but not part of our long term goal of success.

He has only just turned 27 and won the best and fairest two years ago in a good team. He is better than handy and is a popular figure.

I still dont see why we should get rid of Johnstone whos a b&f winner and finished in the top 10 of a brownlow a few years ago for no 14

Especially when we keep players such as Miller and Wheatley around

If we got rid of someone with value I would go Sylvia first

Sylvia doesn't have trade value at the moment. We are better off keeping him. Whereas someone like Johnstone has trade value because he has shown the league that he can play very well (albeit, inconsistantly).

I'd have liked a little more persistance trying to get 11 off Sydney as 14 might be pushing it for Rance but you never know. Maybe we can still poach 11 with Miller if they are dumb enough

Will be weird seeing him in another jumper, after 10 seasons at Melbourne.

But I think it is the right decision. We need a fresh start, and players like Johnstone epitomised the "Daniher Demons"; exciting but frustrating.
