Congrats on the win

You're the only person in this thread acting like a tool. I also said I didn't want to take anything away from Collingwood. Read the posts properly or STFU. You're a disgrace.
You said you didn't want to take anything away from Collingwood, immediately after taking credit for the win away from Collingwood.

Go back to your own board, you're embarrassing yourself.

Thanks vc_viking and Cat boys for the complements. It was a real marathon tonight, Cats and Pies fought hard tonight. Both winners in my book. I'm just about convinced it'll be the mighty Cats and Valiant Pies in the final this year - and it'll be an epic day!

Bullshit, you were kicking goals out of your arse and getting free kicks for ducking your head, while Mooney's miss-kicks were landing in Ablett's arms. Your only saving grace was that you had a clear goal disallowed.

We hit the post 6 times, and had several goals kicked against us on the counter. We couldn't hit a set shot to save ourselves. Had we done so the game would have been over by half time. We also played a man down on the bench for 7/8ths of the game.

Collingwood has the greater scope for improvement out of that match. Whether we achieve that level of improvement remains to be seen.

Woah. I offered some geniune congrats, but maybe it's time to call off the rest of the season and hand out the black and white cup?

Agree, don't know if it was just their lucky day or if they have bloody good kicking skills but those long kicks into their 50 from defence was bloody impressive.

Only worry was that Dawes and Cloke (in the 2nd half) weren't too great that game and I thought that Byrnes and Varcoe really hurt us in the backline.

You're the only person in here being divisive. LOL.
Look, you pillock, I'm feeling generous so I'll even give you a lesson on what a sportsmanlike post-mortem of a game looks like.

"Bad luck, vc_viking, it was a cracking match and both sides had their periods of dominance. On this occasion we got away with the points, but I suspect we had more invested in this particular meeting than Geelong did, and we'll need to play better again in September if we're to overcome the Cats who are the benchmark in finals over the last several years."

In your case, however, you would have gotten more credit for;

"Well played. See you in September".

Nah, just playing Devil's Advocate to the diplomatically challenged individual who started the thread. The Cats looked scary when they got a run on, I'm certainly not counting any chickens if we have a repeat encounter in the next 6 or so weeks.

Not counting any chickens?? Could have fooled me. Anyway, I don't want to detract from the purpose of the thread. Pies were far too good and the margin should have been closer to ten goals. Was an absolute domination. Well done Pies. Most exciting finals coming up in years (mind you I can't see anyone out of the top four winning given the Hawks last two weeks).

Wow there's some real BS going on in here.

Good job, Pies! Now the next challenge to the flag is beating the cats in september. The month that counts! Geelong have learned this the hard way (2008!) - Best of luck anyway.

History tells us that since the current finals system was implemented, no team has won the flag from outside the top 4. So I'd be inclined to agree with that.

As for your "not counting chickens" rebuttal... well yeah, I couldn't really give a shit whether you believe me or not.

How are these Trolls and their backhanded compliments?
Now I can remember why i was cheering on Hawthorn in '08
A lesson in class, well handled TRS.

I'm sure you couldn't, I'm a Cats fan. Something about winners being grinners and losers ***king themselves?!?!?!

Anyway well done Pies. See you in September, if we can manage to get that far.

Thanks mate. In hindsight I probably could've handled it much better.

Generally, Geelong fans are pretty good though. One of my best mates, who I regularly attend games with, is a Geelong fan and I get to Cats games with him as he does Pies games with me.

It's just people like the OP who need their head read, but they don't represent the broader Geelong fanbase... at least no more so than, say, the Collingwood cheer squad is reflective of the typical Collingwood supporter.

Not to mention the Saints supporters who go off-tap without having won anything of significance. :p

Yeah your right I was saying to old man tonight, it's actually just a constant % of supporters that are the dips#!t ferals.
It just so happens that we have the largest number of supporters, you can make the logical inference in regards to the number of ferals.

Be careful talking about the cheer squad though, nearly got my head bitten off after one game in the social club by a fellow Collingwood supporter who was friendly with them, she was really just inforcing the first point about ferals though I guess ... :p

Was at the game tonight. Absolute cracker. I really, really want to see the Pies win it this year.

Thanks mate, you can come back any time. Oh, and thanks for beating the Lions in 04, I really, really enjoyed that victory.

Just one thing, not really having a go at you, but there is no guarantee we will meet you again, at any point from now on.

You would think the GF would be Pies vs Cats, but funnier things have happened.

There are 4 genuine premiership contenders, and barring upsets tomorrow, it seems these 4 sides will finish 1-4, like they should.

Forget the rest, there are only 4 teams who can win the flag, 2 played tonight, and 2 play tomorrow (Dogs and Saints).

Any combination of the 4 could play off in September, at any point.

Great win tonight though, and I have to complement Geelong a little bit, both sides had over 80 tackles each, **** me, some games don't have 80 tackles in total, that was football at it's best tonight, and the Cats were as responsible for the standard of the game as us.

I actually hope it isn't a Pies/Cats GF, simply because I still believe the Cats are the only side capable of turning around our defeats over the other 3 top sides.

Thanks to the OP, nice to see sportsmanlike behaviour on BigFooty.

The likely rematch in September will be a scary, scary match to watch if Geelong get into the kind of run-on they had going for a while there.

The Pies were simply too good for Geelong. Their tackling pressure was first class and dominated the possesion count. A well earned victory to your guys. Great contested footy. You should have won by 30-40 points.

But the real work is yet to be done. I can garuntee that a Prelim or Grand Final vs Geelong will be a much more difficult assignment. Best of luck for the rest of the year.

For a small hick country town quite w number have Internet access

We smashed you tonight and we'll do it again, don't like that fact well may I personally invite you all to go **** yourself

Also trs you own this thread

I saw two teams tonight:

one was a well disciplined challenger - hungry for the the ball, the win, the flag.
One was the challenged - questioning every move, looking for the boundary, ducking the head for the free, diving more than a world cup soccar team....

Hear that?.......It's the winds of change.

What I learned tonight was that if we are more than 2% off our game we can get done. Geelong did a Melbourne and although we dominated the play, couldn't apply enough scoreboard pressure to put them away. (6 posters didn't help) Again though, too easy to score once they are through the zone... Though don't know what we can do to stop that.
