A cross-code war of words has erupted between NRL hardman Mark Geyer and Kane Cornes after a stinging accusation the AFL great is “irrelevant”.
Geyer took aim at Cornes on his Triple M radio show on Tuesday evening after the latter publicly criticised Sydney Swans star Isaac Heeney.
Footage was posted to Instagram of Heeney having some fun while isolated on a family farm in the Hunter Valley. He was shown wake boarding on a dam.
Cornes — a Port Adelaide great turned outspoken radio personality — sprayed Heeney on Footy SA.
I can’t get over the stupidity,” Cornes said.
But those comments enraged Geyer, who used his own radio show to stick up for Heeney and take the AFL legend to task.
“Has Kane Cornes been under a mushroom for the last month? Does he know there’s no games this weekend?”

Well Kane has to keep his name in the paper so no one forgets it. LOL

I've got a family member who works ED at WCH. The other issue is negative pressure rooms. There are 2 in ED, so how do you properly isolate people as they come in?
For sure. We don't have any where near enough negative pressure rooms. I think that's why governments are looking at setting up dedicated COVID-19 facilities away from hospitals.

Thanks.

SA has 190 ICU beds, and the normal occupancy rate is 75%. That leaves 48 free beds, so right now 8 are occupied by COVID-19 patients. So right now little stress on ICU beds. SA is boosting capacity too. But it won't take much before stress is felt.

NSW releases figures in its daily media report. Yesterday they reported 164 total coronavirus patients being treated in hospitals including 35 in ICUs.

We have similar in ED and only 4 on Infectious diseases ward.

It's not pretty,

Basically they're are just isolating them to single bed rooms using negative pressure rooms where they can and the vulnerable are being moved.

They're in the process of moving oncology patients into another ward (normally used for elective surgery) and converting that ward to completely treat covid patients only.

This is why people need to take it seriously. None of our hospitals are ready for this. I'm not even going to start what we're dealing with in psychiatry. We get people off the streets potentially with it, behaviorally disturbed, not complaint with isolation. Thankfully we haven't got any positive patients yet in psychiatry however it's only a matter of time. We've had patients who've had close contact with confirmed cases and they're being forced to isolate. If they're non compliant they're forced to be either be secluded or mechanically restrained.
We all know there's going to be a surge in winter unfortunately. Let's hope numbers dip somehow.

There are a lot of things you can call Kane Cornes, but 'irrelevant' isn't one of them. Just about everything the campaigner says ends up in the news.

The problem is many airlines are in the same boat as Virgin. They are not flying and therefore not profitable. You can only set up in Australia if you have the funds to do so. Not surprisingly Qantas CEO Alan Joyce is opposed to the idea of the Government bailing Virgin out. Joyce is looking for a similar hand out which is fair enough provided it is a loan and if Qantas fail to pay it back the Government takes a slice of Qantas.
There is enough rich people out there to seize the gap in the market (If there is any)

NSW has 875 ICU beds. About 220 would be free on a given day. So already 15% of free ICU beds are occupied by COVID-19 patients

The big test for Mark Geyer would be spelling irrelevant.

How is Kmart still open? How is that a essential store for people to leave the house for ? To top it off staff have been testing positive.

Also this store was in Chadstone shopping centre. Imagine how much community transmission has gone through that joint and I can still go window shopping there today if I wanted to. 🙄

Lol I love people calling out Kane as much as anyone, but I've literally never heard of Mark Geyer. It's hilarious seeing someone who played in a little league that is apparently permanently on the verge of bankruptcy calling someone else irrelevant.

The war of words continues...

I agree Eskimo, guys like Cornes and Geyer have no on field stuff to report on so they have to keep themselves in the public eye.

Decided to record figures and time stamp on worldometers site over the last 25 hours, as these people sleep sometime and its a US or UK site.

Over the last 25 hours - ie took closing reading for 1.30am ACDT on 1st = 3pm GMT 31st. aA staggering
69,000 new cases, 4,500 more deaths and 16,000 more recovered cases worldwide in 25 hours.

I will do a similar 24-25 hour period in a weeks time for comparison.

The mortality rate at 18% is a worry.

The mortality rate for closed cases is a lot higher than the dodgy 4.16% for China and South Korea who were able to bend the curve substantially between 4,000 cases and 8,000 case and cases have been increasing by only 1% per day since they got to 8,000 and deaths have stayed between 5 and 8 a day since they hit 8,000 on 14th March, for a total 162 deaths, and their mortality rate for closed cases is 2.93%.

Main reason I think it is so high for countries like Italy, Spain, USA, France etc is that they are swamped and their death rate is around 50% as death happens quickly when you run out of ICU beds and ventilators, but recovery takes around 3 weeks.

These are some of the staggering mortality rate for countries with the most deaths of 160 or more

Italy 44.2% dead as a % of total closed cases
Spain 32.7%
China 4.16% - dodgy
USA 36.5%
France 27.6%
Iran 16.5% - these may be dodgy numbers as reports of mass graves
UK 91.2%
Neth 77.5% - their government went an official herd immunity policy
Belgium 25.5%
Swiz 16.4%
Germany 4.6%
Sweden 92.0%
Turkey 50.9% - if it gets into Syrian refugee camps could be an absolute nightmare
Brazil 57.6%
S Kor 2.93%

Canada 7.5% - 92 deaths
Australia 7.2% - 19 deaths

So of those countries above only Germany and Australia have similar looking graphs for closed cases. From worldometers site and click on the link for individual countries. They only do detailed break downs for about 25 countries. None for Japan, Taiwan nd Singapore.

The Canadian one went screwy because the data wasn't correctly processed I think.

They had 9 deaths between 9th and 18th March then 3 on 19th and 7 on 22nd.

Their total recovered cases was 0 until 17th then 1 on 17th, 3 on 20th, 306 on 23rd then negative 208 on 24th and 73 on 24th. So that peak of 50% then rapid drop to 7% probably needs to be corrected.

All countries, and even states within countries, are assessing and reporting recoveries differently. These figures and especially comparisons between countries are meaningless.

Line heading in the right direction, still along way to go fighting this virus though.

New York city could have it's own line on this graph.

The age group most represented in Australian statistics for confirmed cases of Covid-19 are people in their 20s, because they are the group most likely to not ****ing listen.

Makes sense.
