Reckon they’ll reduce hours for most businesses, would be staggered (though I think it should happen) that everything was to shut down, including construction.

The building industry will be going hard to not get shut down, thinking of only the $$ first not health.

Do we still live in a democracy though?

If the unelected 'chief health officer' can pass decrees without going through parliament, how is that in any way democratic?

Seems more like dictatorship by CHO.

Whether or not this is a good thing, that's up for debate.

But the idea that we live in a free country / democracy is surely out the door now.

No parliament, no elections, just 'stay in your house citizen' and 'where are your papers?'.

Time for people who pretend to be educated to think about the consequences of all of this.

Rather than blindly following the leader.
Who's we?
You don't live in Australia, good to see you having a whinge about it though

You obviously haven't been following this sh*t from the beginning.

Five seconds in google. What a lazy arse.

150 in medical die from the virus and before they do, forced to make terrible choices. But it's only the flu.

I first heard about that directly out of Italy then a couple of weeks later it was confirmed on a Four Corners doccy

Interesting, in that article 'Dr Guglielmo Gianotti' claims to be the head of surgery at 'Cremona Hospital', but if you google his name, it comes back with little more than the ABC article, and a website of a proctologist who goes by the same name.

Well, it was in the ABC, there's no way they would engage in sensationalism or report something untrue :thumbsu:

How the government thinks allowing 18 year old lovebirds an exception to see eachother is ok under a Stage 4 lockdown is beyond me, Stage 3 different story

Unless u share custody of a child or are married and living separately that should be the case

My partner lives 30 mins away so how it ok that when we are supposed to be limiting spread I can go and see her but I can’t see my grandparents who live 5 mins away and are the people who need the social interaction more so than my girlfriend when u really think about it

This state is an utter shambles and yep I’d bet my house on it that we will be in the same spot in late december

Absolutely, I'm in the same boat. My partner (30yo fit/healthy) lives 22kms away, my parents who are both in their 80's (still fit and healthy) are 1.4kms away and yet I can't go and see them - I mean I could and claim "compassionate" grounds but even then you are only supposed to check in and bugger off.

My partner and I have only been spending one night a week together but we know and trust each other and as we are both working from home we have not been going much at all. There has been far too many contradictions around the rules from day one and too many loopholes to exploit (for those that wish to.)

Based on form, I'm reasonably confident that they will release as little information as possible.
And hope to be proven wrong on this.

Any information that makes Dodgy Dan look bad, culpable for this mess, etc... will be denied or heavily redacted. This unashamed secrecy is how this idiot has operated from day dot (after claiming in the election he would be the most transparent Premier ever, what an absolute scumbag of a man) and something has to be done from politicians in future getting away with this immoral corrupt behaviour.

Why would you lie? I just googled his name and there are plenty of mentions of him in regards to his role at the Hospital. Just because it isn't written in English doesn't mean it isn't real. But I'm guessing Italian language is probably fake too.

Does Italy really exist?

Here's the results I got:

The same ABC article (or rehashes of it) is 1st, 2nd, 4th and 7th on the results. Do you not find this remarkable?

Are you one of the Bolt-Jones-Skyidiots that has an unhealthy and paranoid fixation on the ABC from reading/watching/listening to too much of the Murdoch/News Corp media, and having a crush on the IPA?

No they are not. Even Italy and China are free as birds compared to Melbourne now.

Here in Kuala Lumpur there is a face mask requirement, and shops check your temperature when you walk in.

That's about it.

If Melburnians realised how free the rest of the world is, they might be tempted to burn down Vic parliament.

You guys are being taken for a ride.
Twaddle! UK, France, Spain, USA all have new restrictions.

If it is a true story then I want to read more about it, and if it is true, there should be a hospital somewhere where the doctors admitted to 'choosing who lives and dies'. Sounds like complete crap to me.
It's not that hard to believe though is it? Too many patients for ventilators so Doctors are forced to make choices when more keep coming in. Do you leave the 80y old on who will probably die anyway or put a 50 year old on it who is a better chance? Pretty simple and tragic stuff.

Very true and the 5km radius thing will also effect numbers in stores. I usually shop at a Woolies that is 8km from my house, the closet one is only 4.5km however the furthest one is a new and very large store where it is very easy to stay the **** away from other people. The closest one is an older small store that gives you no chance of distancing from anyone once it gets even slightly busy. I know most of my neighbours do the same and we will now be crammed into the smaller one like sardines.

They'll restrict numbers in store, we'll all be lining up outside again

Any construction workers on here?
Would you be prepared to use the COVIDSafe or similar contact tracing App at work and outside of work as a condition of being allowed to work onsite?

So many of our industries are all for the restrictions as long as they don't apply to their industry.
We have no hope.

Seems legit enough to me...

Not just him either. I was following others working with CV patients in hospitals for a while, some were family members. While a lot of them died, many more became seriously ill and took a long time to recover.
