With every positive test do they determine whether it is Delta or Omicron?
I think they are doing sample testing to determine what the percentage split is.

No it just confirms positive. They have beeno sequence it if they want to know, they've mostly stopped doing that
So when Scott Morrison says things like the below it's not entirely factual? They test all cases in high risk settings (Aged care, prisons, ER) for strain (everywhere in the country). They test a sample of 5-10% (depending on case number and facilities). WA are still testing every positive for strain.
Its Morrison of course its not entirely factualSo when Scott Morrison says things like the below it's not entirely factual?
“It's important that with the rising case numbers we see, that the severeness of this illness is already being shown to be around 75 per cent less than what we saw with Delta,"
The Prime Minister said the next "most likely reason" people are still being hospitalised is because they have the Delta rather than the Omicron variant.
“Omicron is overtaking now the Delta variant of this virus. The Omicron cases that are finding their way into the health system are very, very, very small.
The slightly less sceptical response is they are still testing in NSW/VIC so they do know the percentage split but with a greater level of variance than before. So when Scott Morrison says things like the below it's not entirely factual?

My advice would be to head down to Coles or C Warehouse very earlyStarted feeling really unwell out of nowhere and can’t find a RAT anywhere. Do stores get these in daily?

See my post #1542Having sick people travelling around their area searching stores for a covid test, what could go wrong?
These are the people that are in charge of getting us out of a trillion dollars worth of debt.
I mean that's fine if you don't have to go to work.See my post #1542
You don’t want to be going to work even with a cold these days.I mean that's fine if you don't have to go to work.
Can see any person taking a sick day being required to return a negative RAT before returning. I mean covid has so many symptoms that it covers basically every sickie excuse ever. You don’t want to be going to work even with a cold these days.
www.findarat.com.auChemist near me was hoping for a delivery tomorrow afternoon
Ringing around seems to be your best bet
I’ve heard you should do it if positive on a RAT because with PCR proof if you are to suffer long term effects it is documented on Medicare and there was some other positive about healthcare costs.Know a few people waited 3-4 hours
if your sick enough that you got a RAT .. Would you want to sit in a car for hours..
Workplaces are going to have to rethink things for the short term at least.Going to be a nightmare for employees/employers. Will workplaces accept a positive rapid test for sick leave and if so will they also accept a negative rapid test to allow people to return?
Two epidemiologists have said they believe Victoria and NSW could be heading into another lockdown without stronger measures to limit rapidly rising case numbers
It's hardly a new headline. Even before covid.I'm preparing for restrictions again if headlines like this are going to keep appearing
