So at about 7:30pm on Wednesday, the AFL was confident the season was good to go; they spoke about all of this medical advice they received it was safe to play etc. etc. and less than 96 hours, the season is cancelled for over two months.

What morons and how naive.

As if this was never going to happen within a few days when every single sport shut down weeks ago, yet the AFL kicked on.

Well done though to the AFL for getting one round in though.

Just found out that people have been panic buying Ventolin / Asmol. Pricks. Worst case scenario I can work out a solution to not having toilet paper, ventolin not as easy. I can get a prescription renewed for Seretide (preventative drug), but that means sitting in a doctors waiting room with sick people lol.

I bought a Ventolin and got my Symbicort (two) about two weeks ago knowing some ****head will spread a rumour Ventolin will help corona. ****ing idiots.

Really. I just need to phone my doctor and ask for prescription.

My work chemist has told me I don’t need a prescription for ventolin or seretide.

There is also now a limit of 1 each per purchase at a chemists.

I think either you or your chemist are mistaken - Seretide absolutely needs a prescription.

Ventolin and asmol do not.

People who don’t have asthma have been buying it, including an now ex friend. They said they were clever cause it might be useful so why not.

I think there's a service where you can call in for a script if you're at risk. Call your doctors office and check.
That link is good information.
However it is for self isolation or quarantine.
And
People aged over 70
 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged over 50
 people with chronic health conditions or who are immunocompromised
 parents with new babies and people who are pregnant.

I have been waiting for our leaders to "allow doctors to bulk bill phone prescriptions". Emailed to your pharmacist.
I know some GP's are set up for this service but i don't think it is wide spread.
This would keep healthy people away from the GP's premises and reduce the spread.
Would appear obvious to me but who knows what they have rejected from the medical people.

Our hoarding - 52 books from the library at 3.39pm yesterday (now shut till 30 April). They raised the borrowing limit to 60, and it was the most crowded place I’ve been weeks.

At 4.30 today made a trip to toy world -Three jigsaw puzzles, game of life, sequence, pack of 500 cards and cribbage.

Blatant profiteering- they wanted $90 for the board game pandemic. While I liked the idea of the game I was cheap didn’t buy it.

Then the IGA for $30 of chocolate and gummy bears. Which should last a few weeks if I can hide it from the kids and ration it. My bets on gone by Thursday.

What’s your best hoard?

Just paid for a PornHub subscription. Should probably control myself until I sort my asthma medication though.

I kid. I work from home. Business as usual for me.

This was the relevant bit for the OP that asked the question.

I got 22 new books on my kindle, and I have a massive list of books i need to read. Worst comes to worse and i cant afford books, its off to project gutenberg I go! obligatory **** disney... but still some great books there.

also bought some wool and I have a sweet parakeet jenny kee jumper pattern which will get me set for winter too. Additionally I was sent a big list of free online courses etc, and there is also some language learning services too... may finally learn Afrikaans.. Was working on my weekly sourdough earlier today (I hope everyone who bulk panic bought flour will actually use it... only self raising left and I can't do shit with that... I think I have enough things to keep my mind sorted. And some fire tracks close by so I can do some nice long walks hopefully without seeing anyone else. Sporadic outings to the store and I'm set for the foreseeable future.

stay safe everyone!

I’m cheap and wrong - just an expensive game.
It's a pretty good game, if you're a board game geek but it's not really a casual thing.

Slo-Mo losing it I recon. Has the hide to berate Australians when he has acted at glacial pace the whole time. The number one factor we are in this mess is that he wouldn’t close the borders! He did not take the Coronavirus serious enough (as witnessed by this first stimulus package) and now he is seeing what’s happened overseas and he has gone “oh sh*t”! Sounds to me he is looking to blame people for not social distancing when the reality is he needs to own this mess and instead of always playing catch up he needs to get in front of the curve!

Just me spitballing.

The whole aim of shutting down all non essential services is to eradicate the virus from the nation.

Not slow it down. Stop it.

NSW and Vic have basically forced the federal governments hand by going early today. Hopefully all other states jump on board.

You can’t open business back up until it’s been gone from society for at least 2, but preferably 4 weeks.

You really have to make sure it’s gone.

If the government genuinely wants to do this as fast as possible, they are going to have to introduce some pretty extreme measures pretty fast.

Otherwise this “lockdown” will drag on.

Honestly I believe end of September or October is the earliest we’ll see any sport again, if the government acts decisively.

The WHO has been telling world leaders act decisively, act early, act fast.

We’ve done not of that. Had we acted at the beginning of February, we possibly could have been back to normal by end of April, beginning of May. Albeit with our borders remaining closed, except for exports and imports.

It can't be stopped. The whole point of all the measures we have taken is to reduce the initial shock to the health system otherwise not only will people die from the virus that could have recovered but others who need hospital admission won't be able to be admitted because of a lack of beds. It would take an unbelievable amount of resources. For starters, how would you prove that no one in Australia has it? You would need to do far more testing than any other country to begin with which means you need to get people to testing facilities. Once it's in the hospitals, nurses and doctors are going to be spreading it around.
