Hypothetically, if the bottom 8 was to be as it is now at the end of the season, could Hurley or Watts still be around at 8? I looked at the ladder n most of the teams below us look like picking up midfielders besides maybe Port and Essendon. What do you guys think the top 8 picks would look like if teams drafted based on what they need?

Michael Hurley is the "gun KPP" of the draft, but i'm pretty certain that he will go top 3, along with Naitanui and Rich. There are others, but none have the quality of Hurley.

i reckon wattsy is better but is ideally a deep forward. he can also rack up stats in the middle though, sorta richo-esque in that aspect. he is also very dedicated and id love to get him, however with fev he may not be right for us.

Very good contested mark is Watts.
Will be great to see some of the boys over the weekend.

I am hearing a few good wraps about Corey McKernan's brother, would seem the ideal type for us as a CHF/CHB type who can ruck.

Not unlike Corey himself until he started wearing his missus's panties in games in the late stages of his career.

And it might just be someone like McKernan or Trengrove we need to look at if we're to go KPP because it's extremely unlikely that either Hurley or Watts will fall below top 6 although we can only hope.

william gallas will go picks 1 through 10 so st kilda will be able to get anyone from the draft we want and leave the duds to carlton

What sort of nong posts at 4 in the morning? Any wonder it sounds like a tool.

Hurley won't, but it will also depend on what clubs below us want as well. There are a heap of players that could fill spots 4 through to 10.

Top 3 is pretty easy to identify is you ask me.

My concern is taking a fairly average KP prospect out of desperation if anyone decent has gone. Having said that, my concerns are allayed by our performance in last years draft - our guys have got their heads screwed on right.

There's only one 'r' in Trengove :thumbsu:

I think the real dilemma here is how your scouts are going to handle not having the #1 pick.. This is new terrian for Carlton FC

You guys would have to be looking closely at Trengove wouldn't you?
I mean, if he has a recurrence of his knee injury then he fits your "poor us, we have too many injuries" excuse........ready made.:thumbsu:

Couldn't possibly handle it any worse that the St Kilda scouts did after their run of #1 picks:

2003: R. Clarke
2004: A. McQualter
2005: Traded first round pick for Fergus Watts
2006: D. Armitage (ahead of Brown twins, A. Everitt, J. Frawley & J. Reiwoldt)
2007: Ben "Headered my first touch in AFL but still better than Kreuzer" McEvoy

Ouch.

Great point you make, don't take one 10 -15 spots higher than his ability.

I would prefer another midfielder or small/medium forward rather than an average KP forward.

Doubt that'll happen.....think it will be more of a case of which top few KPP prospects might fall into consideration for our pick than us "reaching" for another. One way or another a pick in the top 7-8 will land us a very good prospect.:thumbsu:

And quite possibly a KP player that we desperately need, however no chance on Watts.:(

Freo picked up Palmer with pick 7 last year if i recall correctly. And Selwood somewhere else around that region for Geelong.

Hopefully the Carlton recruiters can somehow pull something off similar to that, only with a KPP. Would be nice :p
