"Fact - Collingwood will crush the hawks" hahaha how can something that is still to be determined in the future be a fact?

I lol'd.

I don't think Buddy will spoil the party for the pies, but I reckon if the Hawks play for each other and all their guns fire, it'll certainly make things difficult.

Stange comment on Jolly coming from a Hawthorn supporter.

Has kicked 3, 4, 2 & 3 goals against them in his last 4 starts & has twice hit 40 hitouts plus in these games.

Jolly's last 4 games vs Hawthorn:

2 goals, 24 hitouts
2 goals, 19 hitouts
2 goals, 18 hitouts
1 goal, 35 hitouts

Haha mate, I can appreciate you being a good sport and all but don't hold back - we will win and win big. Hawks are physically unable to beat the best sides (cats and pies). They are good but essentially they are just like the rest of the 8 - they are the also rans who make up the numbers ;)

I'm not holding back, But I don't like to make bold assumptions before a ball has been bowled.

Got to already feel sorry for the Hawks.

They've had a great season despite one of their best dropping with a horrible injury.

Collingwood spies poisoning buddy this week.

Going to be a painful loss for them because i reckon the majority of fans will be heading into the game with a lot of hope after the sydney win.

Was a good win by Hawks but it was obvious to anyone with 2 brain cells that Sydney were playing on pure heart. That will only take you so far, the Hawks found them out.

Now for the real deal, we don't need to pump ourselves up with emotion and will be hard at it for the full 120.

Beware all Collingwood people. The most naturally gifted and the most exciting player the game has, is going to 100% fit to lead Hawthorn to victory yet again.
When did NicNat join the Hawks?:p

Seriously though, I'm glad Buddy is going to play, most of us thought he would, heck, Pendles played in the first grand final last year with his gastro at about the same stage Buddy's was on Monday, so Buddy was always going to come up.

Plus, if we win, as I expect us to, the Hawks will have no excuses, and we will have been given yet another test that we so greatly need before we play the Cats next week in the big one.

And yes, Buddy really does stand between the Pies and another Grand Final, yes, the Hawks have other great players, but if Buddy doesn't fire, they can't win.

It's also worth noting, that Buddy Franklin is single handedly stopping this from being the most boring finals series of the last 10 years.

Are you serious?!
This has been one of the best finals series of the last 10 years - neither prelim will be boring nor is any team going in as red hot favourites.

Not to mention neither game will include terrible stoppage flooding football due to your rabble not being part of it - thank god!! :D

Hawthorn always worry me as a team. We have beaten them well a couple of times recently but they did have some excuses both times . They have been a difficult opponent of recent times and while I rate us favorites a Hawk win wouldn't surprise

Buddy playing well will help a lot but its not essential . They have a lot of other good players

Chris Tarrant certainly doesn't like the Buddy hyperbole. When the media asked him a question about Buddy today, he responded with "that's the 15th time I have been asked that today" in a rather agitated voice.

It's pretty obscene the amount of exposure/hype Franklin gets and a lesser person would let it go to their head. From all reports though he is a really humble guy and handles it very well.

It does feel like he is destined to win this finals series off his own boot.

Just as long as you know who it is that's driving it all.

It's interesting that Collingwood said Hawthorn is the team they least wanted to play in the finals....obviously scared of them (especially Buddy!).

Buddy will lead the Hawks to an upset for the ages! Go Hawks! :D

Because any Collingwood player could win it for Collingwood, they're a team full of superstars. And who said it's a party for the Hawks anyway? They're firm underdogs...

Reids a massive in so theoretically between him and Tarrant we have heaps of cover.

Could Buddy spoil the party? Of course he could.

In fact he'll need to. Cant see them winning without a big contribution from him. Collingwood on the other hand wont be relying on individuals like Hawthorn will. Stop Hodge Mitchell Frankin and Rioli and you've gone a long way to winning.

Yep, when we played them in finals last year at Subi, McPharlin destroyed Buddy, McPhee kept Hodge out of the game, Cyril did a hammy and that was all she wrote.

Been on the piss again, HAD? :D

Im just saying that Travis could cause just as much trouble to the Hawks as Buddy does to the Pies.
Im not saying he is better than Buddy, because he isnt, Im just saying he will cause as many head aches to Clarkson as Buddy does to Malthouse..

No doubt. Collingwood aren't underdogs however.

In most circles, Collingwood will win on Friday night, they are very warm favourites. In that case, if Buddy was to turn it on he might be difference that causes the upset, ergo upsets the party. At this point, a Collingwood win is effectively a formality, so even if Trav Cloke bagged 6 or 7, he wouldn't exactly be causing an upset.

To answer the question, Buddy is undoubtedly a match-winner. But the game, as usual, will be won and lost in the midfield.

Clearly if Collingwood allow Buddy to play the way he did against Sydney last week he will have an influence but based on the footage I saw of him training yesterday I'd have to say Buddy is more likely to spoil the party for the Hawks than for Collingwood. He was clearly favouring his bad knee and will undoubtedly play on pain killing injections again if he plays. I for one am praying he does. There's no doubting that even injured Buddy is pretty formidable but if played to his weakness he could easily be Hawthorn's downfall.

You've also got to love the Hawks supporters suggesting that Collingwood's backline are underdone especially when the player who was out for longer than anyone else tore the Eagles a new one last start in his first week back and Maxwell and Harry are playing their best footy of the year while Leon and Reid have just had very short breaks. My feeling is our backline will be a lot fresher and more hungry for the ball than their Hawthorn counterparts who got bashed around fairly nicely by the Swans last week. Looking like a good contest but I see way more upside to our full strength side with a refreshed backline than I do a side relying on players playing on pain killers who have had no rest at all. There you go, I've given you an excuse and all... dammit!

This will be a very interesting game that could go either way and it could just rest on how Buddy performs and how fit he really is.
