No, I don't think so. He may still be a good player, or even an excellent player, but there are too many other players playing above his level these days for him to win. Good luck to him though. A fantastic ornament to the game.
its not the best player who always wins the brownlow, its the one that polls the most votes.
it does usually go to one close to being the best because basically to win, you need to be an outstanding player in your team, play consistently above your team members and have your team win the majority of games.
Often you get players who have outstanding seasons in a team that wins the majority of games, such as say Brad Hardie, who did have an exceptional year and was clearly the standout for his team.
Other teams that have good years often have several players play at a high standard so the brownlow votes get shared around a lot, its not that common to have a premiership team have a brownlow medalist because often the 'work' is careid by many, but this rule can be generally thrown out hte window when its an even year and the brownlow goes for say 21 or 22 votes. as opposed to years when the brownlow goes for high 20s.
