However, HQ has had I believe 21 leaks that has lead to 5 lockdowns (6 if you include the big Vic lockdown last year) currently. This leak has caused the biggest lockdown since the big Vic one last year. The quarantine facility in the NT has had 0 leaks. If we want to open up the country to returning Australians, international students and eventually international tourists, we need facilities that are more purpose built than hotels.

One of the major issues that is somewhat under played in all of this, is that these facilities should have been built last year. Our boarders were tighter, we didn't have vaccines and our economy had taken a hit. If you built these facilities in each state last year and assuming they were finished by 2021 you would have avoided 2 Perth snap lockdowns, the one for the Australian Open, this one and all the future ones we will have. The more return travelers we take in is a bigger chance we import the virus. Yes they would have been expensive but it would have created jobs in each state which would come back in the form of GST and income tax.

Given how we are on track to reach herd immunity by Oct 2022, I fully expect HQ to provide us with at least 10 more lockdowns with 1 or 2 states ending up like Victoria is currently or worse.

We kind of agree here as they definitely should have been built last year and a whole lot of stress, pain and hardship would have been avoided, I just think doing it now is like bolting the barn door after the horse has bolted.

I feel like the horse bolted, then came up and is inside the barn again but will run out again. I don't trust the vaccine rollout. We are under supplied. I (26, non-essential worker) won't be getting vaccinated for another 12 months at least at this stage. And my age group are some of the bigger spreaders of it

Not sure what concerns me more, the fact that our Federal government still remains so lax in rolling out the vaccines and acting on the requests of the states for alternatives to HQ or the fact that you are now 26 and I taught kids that would now be your age.

They have completely botched this, they are now saying the AZ vaccine is no longer recommended for people under 60...

You have much more chance of dying from a lightning strike , car accident or shark attack than the AZ . The media are just giving ammo to the anti vaccine campaigners

What I don't get is that S.A. currently has it's doors open to NSW residents as long as you haven't been to an exposure site. This is despite delta variant spreading from unknown sources. Yet currently being in Greater Melbourne (no cases within 25km of my residence or workplace in the last 20+ days) I can't travel there. Even regional Vic, who have not had a case in months, you need to get tested on arrival and isolate until negative. Makes no sense. Just a bunch of ****wit politicians waving their ***** around trying to outdo each other.

That sucks! Yea, they are legit just making it up. No connection to reality.
 
For all the shit the Murdoch rats were giving it to the Vic Gov seems to be nothing like that to Gladys who has a gold standard system. The problem is the vaccine rollout and lack of quaranteen facilities shows the borders should have stayed closed , especially from India.

Also the media if the contact tracers in Vic made a mistake , but it's not an issue if it happens in Sydney . We should of all had a chance to be vaccinatedbefore winter , but no. This is not a battle state v state and ALL Australia should work together to get rid of the Chinese and Indian strains , what's the name Delta !
 
the victorian government take the cake for corruption and mishandling of covid, nsw has carried victoria, why wouldnt the media be less harsh on them

sutton, andrews and co should be kicked out/go to jail for the slug gate alone, let alone cedar meats. red shirts etc
