One case in Perth so they shut fans out of the game this afternoon. I’m sure that will keep some happy….

Even if you are vaccinated there is still a risk that you could pass on COVID. Based on that every time there is case some states will go into shutdown even with a large percentage of the population vaccinated.

Vaccination isn’t full proof but it goes along way to helping.

Qld kept everything as business as usual even with active cases today unlike WA. Obviously State of Origin is more important than COVID…..

Restrictions have come in today haha. S.O.O > everything else

I dont yet fall into any categories eligible for the vaccine shot but have received the NSW health dodgy link which I can use to book in my shot. I've noticed a few slots avail. I've wondered if that slot has been open for multiple weeks and no one has booked it then why can't it be open for the rest of the public?

Either you're going to get the shot asap or you're not. If you're not then open it for everyone else. No point having empty slots/appointments available.

I'd take AZ tomorrow if they would let me. I reckon a lot of under 40s would too. I also think generationally, a larger percentage of the under 40s would want to get vaccinated as posed to the over 40s. If we had the vaccines in the country to give one to anyone who wanted one, we'd hit 60%+ of the population by Christmas, imo

Sadly the AZ vaccine was a victim of fake news

I'm not sure the relatives of people who have died from blood clotting caused by AZ would think it fake news.

The deaths are not fake news. The fake news is the risk from the vaccine being exaggerated, as it is very likely that more people will die without the vaccine than with it.

One case shut down a city….

It's not because of one case, but how quickly that one case can multiply. WA hospitals are already under pressure even without COVID, imagine if they had to treat COVID patients as well. People are still not getting that while COVID has a high survival rate for the individual, this is one situation where the risk to the community is far greater than the risk to the individual. By contrast, while there is a small risk of complications arising from the vaccine, that risk does not multiply like the virus does. I'm not in favour of mandatory vaccination (except for people in certain occupations like health care), but people should still be able to get AZ if they want to.

Definitely not an anti-vaccer. I had my first shot of the AZ 2 weeks ago and I have never been so sick. The only thing that came close was when I had pneumonia 3 years ago. 2 full days of shaking and shuddering.

My beef with the whole thing is "trust".

I was resentful getting the vacc because it was the same week the revelations about Fauci's complicity were revealed. I thought why TF am I having to front up for a vaccine against a man made virus which no one will tell the truth about?

I remain resentful.

In NSW yesterday there was one case in ICU of the 130 positive cases and 650k tests that have been undertaken in the last week. So when you say how quickly it can multiply then 130/650,000 doesn’t seem so. Given Sydney’s population a 130 cases is nothing.

If WA can’t handle one case then you will be going into lockdowns for a long time. It is what it is.

As for AZ it has been a mixed bag of messages. Based on health department announcements from. So far it’s been…

Feb- AZ is fine for everyone as one of two vaccine options.
Apr- Don’t take AZ if you’re under 50.
Early June- Don’t take AZ if you’re under 60.
Late June - AZ is fine just double check with your GP who will be indemnified by the government.

You don’t have to be an anti vaxxer or a conspiracy theorist to at least query what is going on.
