It is not ethical to deny medical treatment to those who need it, even if they may be a drug addict, anti vax, racist, homophobe and support the Freo Dockers.

It is however certainly possible (and ethical and legal) to...

- Charge unvaccinated people by choice for their medical treatment - we are seeing this in Singapore already, and the idea is spreading
- Make choices for medical treatment - if there is only one ECMO machine available and they have to choose between the vaccinated or unvaccinated person in an ICU, you choose the vaccinated one - we already do this for organ transplants
- Impose consequences such as losing your job or not being able to attend sporting events - we already do this for other medical choices

Well I don't know about ethical, but it is already happening in certain situations:

Apparently those attending the geisha bar have received texts to isolate.

I'm comfortable in having deleted the safe wa app, 14 months ago, so I'll never receive such text.

In a way they do, the high taxes on tobacco are supposed to be used to offset the burden smokers impose on the health system.
You could also say that the perfectly healthy person that has paid the Medicare levy/surcharge while also paying for private health insurance is also entitled to finally use the medical system they have been taxed on .

Just add covid care to private health insurance for those unvaxxed or make them pay higher medicare surcharge .

Do obese people pay any sort of tax to justify their health risks? They are the biggest ( no pun intended) burden on our health system .

I believe in things like a sugar or fat tax (eg making Macca's cost more, soft drinks having a levy etc), but imagine the political unpopularity...

Most people would be ok with it just like the smoking tax .

Bigger proportion of the population consume Macca's compared to smoking, though.

Anyway, the Geisha Bar patron might be the beginning of the end of Fortress WA, surely if it's true there is little chance he or she hasn't passed it onto others nearby. We've had a good run.

Text or not, if you’d been at the Geisha bar on Saturday night would you go get a test and isolate pending the result? Or would you shrug and just go about your life?

The Geisha Bar and Connections. Clubs/bars are the worst places for avoiding spread.

It begins.

Chant says more than about 70% of cases are in the age group of 10 to 39-year-olds.

“It’s really sad to see some very young people in ICU who are not vaccinated. So, again, a big callout to everyone – just because you’re young, this message doesn’t mean you’re necessarily going to be lucky enough to have the mild disease. You can be hit hard.”

PID doesn't strike me as the type of person who cares if he has it or passes it on

The teuth
The truth?

If I felt no ill effects, I would carry on with my normal life.

Even though you could have it and be asymptomatic? And could pass it on to other, potentially more vulnerable people while asymptomatic?

I wish I could say I was surprised.

Omicron 5x less severe than Delta says Perrittet. fu** wouldn't want that to spread.
Stats, stats, stats for everybody.

Risk of hospital stay 40% lower with Omicron than Delta, UK data suggests’

‘The Omicron variant of coronavirus appears to be milder, with a 20%-25% reduced chance of a hospital visit and at least a 40% lower risk of being admitted overnight, the first UK data of its kind has showed ..
.. But as daily Covid cases topped 100,000 for the first time on Wednesday, experts warned that high transmissibility means the NHS is still at risk of being overwhelmed

Maybe I best stay out again for a few days, don't want to inflame.

Is it any different than only 10% of consumers scanning in anywhere and businesses not giving a damn about it either?

For all inents and purposes, no cares about it.

I bet people like Jackie are thrilled that there’s campaigners who don’t check in anywhere and who don’t plan to get tested if they’re close contacts because they think they’re bulletproof.

Survival of the fittest, innit.

Because we haven't had to worry about an outbreaks for a long time.

Now there is potentially community spread, they will be more vigilant on people checking in again.

Yes. Bit of a difference between people being complacent about check ins because there’s no Covid in the community in Perth, and people being complacent about being actual close contacts when Covid suddenly gets into the community in Perth.

Also hospital admissions and death aren't the only scorecard. A third of people who have contacted covid still have symptons 3-6 months later, some who didn't have symptoms initially. So we can wait and see how Omicron pans out or we can take the advice of that well known epidemiologist Dr Balls In and let er rip, what could go wrong?

VIRAL PERSISTENCE—The #SARSCoV2 coronavirus appears to persist in organs throughout the body for months. Virus found even following mild & asymptomatic #COVID19 cases, months later in the heart, lymph nodes, eyes, nerves & brain.
