As far as I can see I'm free to go wherever I want, that's not a lockdown. If I want to go visit my sister in Scotland I can. If I want to go for a beer down the pub I can. Not locked down at all
Yeah but I can't realistically go to Sydney for work, or Queensland for a holiday, or Adelaide for [checks why people goes to Adelaide] ....reasons.

There definitely are restrictions on movement, and to question those isn't ridiculous.

Definitely not! It's a completely valid discussion!

What is ridiculous is for people to say this is being done because McGowan is a power-hungry dictator, or to act like there's no good reason for doing it. If you want to argue against the delay of the border opening, by all means have at it. I'm happy to acknowledge that it's been difficult for people who haven't been able to see family or friends interstate, or travel for work, or other things. Unfortunately, most of the media beat-ups this week have been about "McGowan went back on his word" and have completely refused to discuss the merits of his position, which is that giving more time to increase boosters will save a lot of lives and make it less likely that the health system becomes overwhelmed.

Fully agree.

It's also ridiculous for people to label anyone who wants borders open money-hungry or selfish.

As usual the debate is nuanced and difficult and in truth, there is no good answer that suits everyone. But that doesn't make clickbait headlines or arguments on social media (or forums ;)) so everyone picks sides then further entrenches themselves on their side of the debate, discounting anything the other "team" says.

I'm just a bit over the whole ****ing thing to be honest.

Reckon we could potentially be in store for a change to the mask mandate soon

Head of the Nurses Union on radio banging on about unless theyre N95 (or whatever they are) there's no point. And my wife attended a vax clinic this morning and was given a surgical mask to replace the fabric one she was wearing before letting her in. I attended the same clinic last week and it wasn't an issue.

Sure, but that's not a lockdown. You're not even locked in, can leave at any time

Speaking of locking down, locking in, locking out, I am pretty annoyed at having to put a pin or finger scanner on my phone now that I have Google Pay and my vac certificate on my phone.

I've opted out of one for years and it's a major inconvenience to me.

Going through the whole rigmarole of setting up ServiceWA again if you get a new phone is annoying.

I managed it, but for whatever reason the selfie sensor was being ridiculously sensitive, too close, too far, too close, perfect no wait it's too close yes that's it no too far ahhhhh :drunk:

Went to the Children's hospital Monday for an appointment and they did the same thing.

They still don't do anything about people walking around with them not covering their nose though...

Agreed, but that's just semantics.

People's movements are still limited. For some people, it will have little to no impact. For others, the impact can be quite large. Just because it's not technically a lockdown doesn't mean it has no effect on people.

A bit of humour

I still don't understand the rules at train stations. Especially Perth Station. All passengers are wearing them, some guards are, but the majority aren't. My suburban station they all seem to wear them.

Often feel like saying something but don't want some psycho guard tasering me or something.

There's a pretty big difference between only being able to leave your house for essentials which is what a lockdown is, and not wanting to travel interstate/overseas because you can't get back in or have to quarantine on re-entry though.

All good, I don't think anyone is saying we are currently in a lockdown, which was what I meant by semantics.

Similarly claims made by some WA Ministers about East Coast friends being in lockdowns is also misleading.

And how do you get back once you’ve visited your sister?

I didn't realise that when McGowan backflipped on re-opening he kept all his "reopening" dictates. The subclass of unvacced still cant buy alcohol and the rest of us have to show our papers.
