Wtf. How can you set yourself up as an anti-Hawaiin pizza food nazi, but be pro snot blocks?

Vanilla slices are delicious. Irresistible to a custard lover.

"Mille-feuille" is a much nicer name but I wouldn't hesitate to order one if it was listed on the menu as "snot-block". It's Australian and it's classy AF.

I preferred the chocolate eclairs and the neenish tarts.
Snot blocks ok as well.

Millie-feuille is broadly in the same family as a snot-block, but has more layers of pastry with custard in between. It’s more elaborate, more fiddly. Not the Australian thing.

The snot-block has pastry at the top and bottom - and that’s it. We can’t be bothered pissing about with too much of it. Plus we get more custard. It’s a much simpler structure.

Agreed VP, the snot-block and the Millie-feuille exist in same dessert family but the snot-block is graced with Australian simplicity and elegance.

It lacks fussiness, needless over-engineering, and the vanilla slice does not suffer the indignity of having to chase down Escargots.

Pastries are for the weak of mind.

Absurd comment.

I can only assume that you have suffered pastry abuse. Did your brothers throw party pies at you when you were a kid?

Back on topic, the best snot-blocks have firm pastry, which doesn’t crumble or break into pieces when you bite into it. Furthermore, it continues to act as a platform for the custard, keeping it together.

The pastry also alleviates the need for a plate. Another invention which many Australians scoff at.

And knives and forks.

Isn’t that also the point of the meat pie?

Jesus jmac, a snot block is pastry and snot - it says it in the name, FFS
I used to love the ones that Beaumonts made in Geelong, with the pink icing.
Gold.

The snot-block pastry must be firm enough to support the custard which itself must find a happy point between soft and firm.

I can only imagine VP, how miserable one's existence must be if they can't find a little joy in a snot block (or a meat pie).

A prawn risotto with homeopathic quantities of crystaceans; a pizza topped with tropical fruit better used to create thirst quenching juice...

I want to help these poor bast*rds. My heart cries for them. They, are people too... and they are hurting.

WORST vanilla slices in Australia are in Wilcannia

Social repression is an unusual beast. Those who are repressed often turn on each other. There's countless examples of those with homosexual urges turning their desire into hatred and committing heinous homophobic crimes.

I've recently come across an interesting example regarding the repression of Hawaiian Pizza urges. There is a gentleman, who not so long ago partook in a slice of pizza with pineapple on it - and was thoroughly satisfied with the acidic sweet balance the pineapple gave the pizza. Yet that gentleman continues his vile attacks on pineapple pizza enthusiasts. Whilst his actions are abhorrent, I can't help feel sympathy for this twisted repressed creature.

When I outline the content of some of these posts to my wife - she just looks at me and mutters words to the effect "glad you're having fun dear". 🤣

Sometimes I even wonder about myself - let alone others...

I do not regret my single venture to the dark side Savvy, it helped me understand you (and others of your ilk) better.

This is why you can now trust me to support and guide you should you choose to embrace enlightened cuisine.

I never thought such wisdom as I am attaining here could be achieved through in depth discussion of pineapple and vanilla slices (there's even been a reference to neenish tarts) - wistful memories of shepherd's' pie starting to emerge

We're not ready as a community to return to shepherd's's pie you crazy bast*rd.

Why would you propose such a thing?
